Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus Announced

The title says it all. The sequel to [opinion]one of the best Final Fantasy games ever[/opinion] was announced in Japanese trade magazines as well as press conferences. No word on when Dirge of Cerberus or the movie, Advent Children, will be released in North America.


My friend just told me this over MSN, so I don't have a link for it. Can someone find one, because I'm a little busy watching SNL: The Best of Will Ferrell right now.

 

Wow...just wow. They better not screw it up . Can't wait to see it, which is probably a bad thing since god knows how long it will be in the making.

Wow, I just saw a video of it on G4TechTV and it looks pretty dumb. It looks like a third person shooter.

 

No, no and no again. I am against sequels to this game. I really am. With all the crap sqaure have brought out recently they better not ruin this as well. I'm very exited about FFVII:AC but a sequel is a BIG no

 

i am for the movie.. but a sequel i am not.. an updated re-release would be sweet. but as for a sequel, to what i think is one of best rpgs ever goes, would be a bad thing. wait, X-2 was a classic, right? no. no more FF sequel bs.

This doesn't look good. Square Enix is known for their RPGs, not action adventure shooters and from what I saw, the greatest aspect of Dirge of Cerberus is going to be it's presentation. I am not bagging on Square Enix for expanding their game types, but to first tear apart greatness that was FF7 and then to have a spin off be an action, adventure, shoot-em-up game really doesn't fit into what Square Enix is about.

But I am going to give it a try. Even with my doubts, Square Enix (even when they were Squaresoft) has yet to really disappoint me. Always kept me interested one way or another in their games.

Honestly, anyone else thing basing a game off a year after Advant Children a bit... over the top/selling out/milking a great game for all it's worth? :wth:... Or so I heard it takes place a year after Advant Children. In any event I think Advant Children should have been the end of the FF7 spin offs because anything after that would probably just come off as "milking" the product or whatever it is. Bleh.

 

I don't know, Squenix has put out some great 'not RPG' games. Kingdom Hearts was mostly adventure/action, and so was Drakengard.

They (mostly) know what's best for the FF series, after all, they've maintained it for how many years?

I think this is mostly the answer to the cry of millions of fans asking for more FF7. I mean, any time a new FF comes out, most gamers compare it to 7.

 

This is definately a new genre they're trying their bets at though. It seems like this game is an all out "shoot-em-up" kind of thing, which I am not complaining about, I'm egar to see what they're going to do, but I think people might just tear this game apart if it's not up to the supposed "shooter" par, if you know what I mean.

Oh well, I'm sure it'll be good/great... I'm hoping ...

 

Since I sooooooooo love FFVII, I don't mind it being all about Vincent, but I hope nothing crappy will turn out. Hmm, can't wait.

 

Yay we get to play as the gallion beast! -_- why? why bother if it isn't gonna be like the main continuation of FF7 why vincent? why not cloud and co.
