"Guns don't kill people; crazed minorities with guns kill people." Bless you, Todd MacFarlane! Anyway, like I said before, I think only licensed hunters should be allowed to own guns after passing rigorous tests so the people giving the licenses don't give the gun to some crazed fool who thinks his grandmother is a deer. Other than that, owning a gun just adds to the whole problem, whether it's for protection or not.
i agree w/ what most of you have said. and i do think that guns should be under much more control. i actually think it would be a good idea not only to do a background check, but a check on someone's mental capability, sanity, moral convictions so on and so on. only sane ppl should have guns and all firearms should be kept out of reach of children. also everyone getting a gun needs to have a mandatory gun safty class b4 they can take thier gun home. but... i think that it is a right to be able to protect yourself, and if guns are the only way to do it, by all means get a gun. the world is full of crazy mother****ers! i, for one, am scared of them. i don't want to ever have to use a gun to protect myself, but i like to know that if i am in a dangereous place or situation that i have a way of keeping myself protected w/o relying on the stupid cops or others. i dont have much faith in others. i also dont think that a gun is foolproof protection but it does scare ppl into leaving you alone....most the time(again some crazy mother****ers in the world). most ppl are interested in saving thier own skins and wouldnt risk getting shot. and what if everyone wasnt' allowd to get a gun. that would jsut prevent us from protecting ourselves against even more crazy ppl and crazy cops( i knowthere are some out there) that would take away our right to be individuals. we would be compleatly in teh hands of these ppl w/o being able to take it into our own hands. im sry if u dont see the connection. im not sure how else to put it. America is about being free. it is about individuality and differences. it is about having a say in ur life. sry this is pretty long. but those are my veiws.
i dont think anyone should have a gun. not murderers, not hunters, because as far as i see hunters are killers (shooting things for sport isnt a sport when they dont have a gun to shoot you back). guns exist for the sole purpose of killing things. normal citizens have guns to protect themselves from murderers and such so im positive there wont be a full on gun ban anytime soon, but i do think there should be much stricter laws. except you can always buy them off the black market. guns were stupid to make in the first place.
Guns shouldn't be banned totally, but I can't honestly say that it's doing Americans any favour, especially since there is culture of violence spreading among youths in the US. Particularly in black communities, gun violence is extremely high. Ready availability of guns is sending the wrong signals to people who're trigger-happy. There's no guarantee that a mad man won't start practice target shooting in his garden, or that disgruntled teenagers won't take them and turn them on their classmates like in the Columbine high school shooting. If people need self-defence, they can keep non-lethal weaponry like a stun gun. Most of the time, people use guns to hurt more than they do to protect.
yeah...what's done is done i guess, i just dont want someone else to go through the same stuff that we did. it's ridiculous really. my dad HAD a gun with him, it just wasn't loaded. i guess he thought that he would never need it. idk, i can't ask him. but he did, and he wasn't prepared for the day when he would get murdered in cold blood. without guns, people would still find a way to get them, but there would not be as many problems with security and safety of people. taking away someone's right to have a firearm is better than taking away their life.
How very true. However, there's a little roadblock (in the USA anyways) called the Second Amendment. Gun nuts (the NRA is the shining example) will always stand behind this clause in the Constitution and defend their written rights to own whatever death-dealing boomstick they deem necessary. That little passage in the Constitution pisses me off to no end, even though I'm Canadian...while I was in Chicago this year, there was a gun murder (gang-related, involving two African-Americans) a few blocks from my hotel. Violence like this doesn't need to happen. People need to realize that just because you have the right, does not mean that you NEED to exercise that right. Owning a gun is one of the high points of what I like to refer to as 'p*nis mentality', the mental state of "mine's bigger than yours". Men in general (yeah, I should shut up right now) do it with guns. They do it with cars, trucks, jobs, women, and everything else. It doesn't get anyone anywhere, so it's senseless.
(yeah, I should shut up right now)
lmao i think you have great points. idk, this battle is going to go on forever, but i guess it's a thing like abortion and the death penalty... idk what to do except make sure that i can't have a gun and decide to shoot someone when i get pissed off. michael said that there was this guy in baltimore that killed a pizza delivery guy for the pizza. shot him in the head and walked away. that is ridiculous. really. there is no need for that. i think we should blame good old jefferson for making this amendment to the constitution. although i am sure he never thought that we would use the guns against each other.
Wood, silver, gold plated, green camo, beige camo, and so it goes .
Bang. And yes, I'm aware of the irony...
Guns are the stupidest thing ever. How does anyone expect to have it for safety. Not even hunters should have guns 'cause we don't need to haunt animals for food or clothing, and the poor animals did nothing to be killed, anyway if only hunters ware alowed to have guns there would be alot more interest in "hunting"
A person who really loves his country is against guns and stuff like that. I know America has alot of profit from guns, but it's just wrong. I'm not from America, but in my country there was a war about 8 years ago and now alot of people have guns. They can shoot someone but they aren't gonna end up in jail 'cause they are "traumatised" by the war so they can't be responsibile for their actions, and they can kill whoever they want. even kids. and sometimes kids find their parents guns and shoot themselfs and their friends, so I don't see the reason why would someone say that you are not a real American just 'cause you say something that other people don't wanna admit
guns only destroy people's lives. they were only made for destruction, and they do a damn good job doing that. there is no reason why any civilian needs a gun. none. at all.
