-_- Ok, I really hate to have to make a thread because of this, but I feel that there should be an age minimum on ATVs. This is why: Source is the Brockton Enterprise James was actually a good friend of mine. Had a crush on him since 7th grade. Got the IM yesterday that he died... not a happy day My little cousins, who are 10 and 12, have ATVs, or more commonly called "quads". My friend Becca, who is also 12, goes "quadding" with another friend of mine, named Stephen. If this happened to James, and to that 8 year old in Stratford, who says it won't happen to them next? I am totally paranoid now that this has happened. Do you think that there should be an age-minimum for ATVS, and if so, what age?
one of my friends had an accident too, but he didn't die or anything, just fractured his entire leg. i am sorry about what happened to james... i think there should be an age limit too, since they are mechanical modes of transportation. same as a jet ski, you have to have a driver's license to use one. but i think there should be an age limit. the question is, if a law like that was enacted, would anyone pay attention to it?
Actually...his name is James but... I think that there is always someone who isn't going to listen to the rules, but I think parents would be a bit more protective...especially since James died, and he was a real good kid...
Here it's 14, although if you don't get caught... And it's hard for police to catch people in trails .
I have been riding atv's since I was very young but ive been using them daily since I was 12, im 15 now. Ive been in one crash and that was because my friend is a dumbass. I can handle my fourwheeler and I have experience. I think if you know your limits and have enough experience you should be able to ride them.
There's a reason you have to be 16 to drive a car, and driving an ATV isnt that much different. IMO, to drive an ATV you should be required to have a drivers license, making the minimum age 16.
I'm sorry to hear about that, Rachel . I don't really know if there should be an age thing. It should be up to the parents to decide if their kid can ride them well enough or not.
I agree with you Todd.. They both have the same principles. But over here the limit should be 17..when you get your drivers lisence.
