News Set-Up on Invision

    Alright, I uploaded Invision Board to my site last night, and now I'd like to know how to do the news thingy to where when an admin posts a thread in a News forum, it shows up on your site. I'm pretty sure that this site uses it, and if not, you can see what I'm talking about at AnimeAres.com. Please, I need a quick reply! (Trying to set up a website for my parents, and I need to finish it today!)

    Well, LPA uses all custom made coding from Alex, and we don't give out our source codes.

    However, there should be a SSI.php file that came with your board. That's your ticket to dynamically adding content to a page. I haven't used the SSI.php file in a LONG time, so you'll have to play around for awhile, or find a site that offers IBP support, which some do.

    There is also a plugin you can download that will make it much easier for you to create links and whatnot. I'll look for the link in a little while and then I can post it here. Alternatively, you can search for it yourself at www.ibplanet.com. :)

    Ibplanet actually died awhile back, I think :lol:. They became part of Invision or something. But there's a resource thingy on Invision now, but you have to be signed up to view their mods and such, so I don't know if a forum-to-website intergration is available to this day.

    All this news talk forced to me to try it with the new IPB 2. It worked. So if anyone needs anyhelp, just PM me :)

    Just look within the ssi.php files that came with your IPB download. It will come with various php includes that you will include on your actual website.

    Within the SSI folder/package, also comes various templates for whatever you're using the Server Side Include for, which in this case, is the news. Upload the news template file directly into the /forums directory, and use the include code on your news page, and you should be all set! If you want to customize the tables that your news show up in, modify the template for 'news' that you uploaded.

    I really need to download the new Invision Board and mess around with it... lol, I haven't messed with Invision's board since... I think the version LPA is currently on... :lol:
