I searched through the archives but couldnt find this anywhere. How do I make avatars transparent, is it a special code or do I have to save it a certain way?
You have to make it tranparent in {image editting prog here}. I know how to do it but you'd get a pretty crappy result from me.
Assuming that you're using photoshop, take out the "background" layer, or which ever one has the background on it. You should see a gray-and-white checkered background after that. Then save + upload
Nope... You use the 'Magic Eraser Tool'. [/b][/quote] Why erase what's on a layer, when you can just toss it and have the same effect? Besides, erasing takes time.

well, this method is for paint shop pro, and i've used it with icons, but i'm assuming it still works for sigs and stuff.. http://www.livejournal.com/community/miphi...ileg/23252.html you can just skip the end of the tutorial, after the transparency part, where it goes onto making a mini-movie part.. well, hoped that helped some. ^^ unless you've already gotten the solution in another thread.. then nevermind.. >.>
If using photoshop 7+ when creating a new image where it says 'background colour', click 'transparent' If you don't want fuuzzy white bit around the edges of your images, use extreme zooming and the eraser tool (I normally have it set on pencil at about 1/2px) There you go
