Wow, either these guys have no time on their hands or they're trying WAYYYY to damn hard to try to prevent music piracy. No one's going to buy the player if they have to imprint their fingerprints on it...I mean...what if someone hacked the software and your fingerprint was used for something else? It's not going to work on anyone unless they're a total dumbass.
What the hell. They are really trying way to hard now. Why the desperate measures? No matter what they do there will always be people who will find a way around it. Why can't they just let us download in peace? :argh:
Pick me up on your way their. I think that the RIAA knows that suing people isn't stopping downloading. They also know downloading isn't really hurting their sales. But yet they're still getting money off people, so why stop now? Will's right, they are the Really Idiotic American Assholes.
good god they're a bunch of morons. developing a technology to allow fingerprint authenticiaction will cost them more money than what they lose to filesharing. and it wont stop filesharing either, so they'll be even more in debt. But its all good though. All of the RIAAs ideas are backfiring and costing them more money, they'll eventually do something so stupid, they go out of business
What a bunch of freaking rocket scientists *end sarcasm* First off, they cannot possibly stop file sharing. Secondly, the study I've seen shows that the music industry is, in reality, losing only fractions of cents with the whole file sharing thing. The fact is most people d/l a few songs for an album, then go out and buy it. The RIAA should get their heads out of their bum-holes and worry about something more important...like not being idiots.
Yeah, I posted this in another thread a few days ago... still have the same opinion of it -- quite possibly one of the most stupidest (wow, look what they've done to me! Just reading that article affected my intelligence!) ideas ever.
I think they know file sharing isn't costing them much. But as long as they can keep suing people, and getting money off them, who's to stop them?
I can imagine there would be dumb criminal records for criminals who put their fingerprints down on this...
Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys... Winnipeg could use a few cool people. Ya can all come over here...then we could all plot to screw the RIAA for goo.......erm...uhh.... ** swallows tape ** ** runs **
The only possible way to end file sharing would be to shut down the Internet. And since that is (most likely) impossible, I can't see that happening. Alternatively, they can make CDs affordable. You know, $10 a CD. That's very reasonable for a CD. I don't want to pay $20 for a CD that has 12 tracks on it, that's a ripoff. My idea was to make the CD cost as much as how many tracks there are on a CD (i.e. $14 for a 14-track CD, $20 for a 20-track CD, etc). I also think that's reasonable.
thats good. but it probably wont ever happen. because if you think about it, theres not many cds that have 20 songs on them. an average cd is like... 12 or something. i think so at least. so all the stars and the music companies and producers or sponsors wouldnt like that.
I won't buy this iVue. And it looks like most here won't either. I agree with Will, they should price the CD for as how many songs. The artists shouldn't care, they will still be making millions. And last I heard, I thought they did it for the fans. The RIAA will never stop unless, like someone else said, they make such a stupid mistake they just shut down. They are already millions into debt, but hey...I guess it doesn't mean anything. Look at USA, we're billions if not more into debt, and the governments still there
Nothing is foolproof If for some reason, this does become mainstream, people will find ways around it. Kind of scary, how they keep your fingerprint embedded into a song. Sounds like 'The 6th Day'
Believe me, there will always be people who circumvent mainstream protection methods designed to stop piracy. People dedicated enough to their "art" will always exist, and will stop at almost nothing to defeat any countermeasure. There's no way this'll stop piracy...just put a 3-month lag in it while the pirates think up ways to beat it...
