    A Thousand Fireflies

Look up and tell me what you see
Even if I close my eyes, I’m seeing the same thing
It’s almost as beautiful as you
Yet I feel as though something’s missing
And I’m not quite sure what it is
Suddenly I feel you lean over
All those suicide notes seem to disappear
Everything is perfect when you’re here

I’m looking up at the sky tonight
And there isn’t a cloud in sight
The only thing the stars can’t outshine
Is your smile next to mine
I feel your eyelashes against my cheek
Your butterfly kisses make me feel so weak
I lose myself in your eyes again
And I return the favor like you did back then

And I will never have to see the sun again
There’s enough light in your eyes
To light up all the world
And the light in your eyes will never end
It’s like capturing a thousand fireflies
Against my cheek your eyelashes curl

This hilltop never looked so good before
The empty breeze chills me to the core
The moon is smiling down on us
Hoping that we don’t make a fuss
The leaves rustle beneath our feet
Never before have I felt this complete
I lose myself in your eyes again
And I’ll return the favor so this never ends

And I will never need to see the sun again
There’s enough light in your eyes
To light up all the world
And the light in your eyes will never end
It’s like capturing a thousand fireflies
Against my cheek your eyelashes curl

And then it all fades away (away)
I feel myself awaken from this dream (this dream)
Catching my breath never was this hard (this hard)
I’ve been broken since you left (you left)
What the fuck do you think love is (love is)
Another game in your arsenal of hate (of hate)
Your butterfly kisses suddenly mean nothing (nothing)
And all those suicide notes come back (come back)
And I’m haunted by those memories again (again)
Why the fuck did you do this to me (to me)
The night sky will never look the same (the same)
I guess I’ll have to blame myself (myself)
For letting you control me again (again)

I will never, ever see the sun again
There’s enough hate in your eyes
To block it for the world
And the hate in your eyes will never end
It’s like releasing a thousand fireflies
Against my cheek your eyelashes burn

    Burn
    Let it burn
    Your eyelashes burn
    Just wither away
    Real beauty is forever
    My suicide notes
    My only savior
    Your butterfly kisses
    My only downfall
    Burn
    Let it burn
    Your eyelashes burn my skin
    Like a thousand firefles

sounds like an odd combination of Atreyu and, oddly enough, Usher.

    7/10 because I watered up.

Yeah... I figured that out. I was actually kind of using Finch's "What It Is To Burn" and... somehow got Usher.

This was a very different poem, but in a good way. I was expecting to read a very nice love song and then I read "what the #### do you think love is", which made the song/poem go into a complete emotional turnaround, great work! I like how it showed the ups and downs of a relationship and overall I'd have to give it a perfect 10. Very nicely written.

A Screamo band. If you like Thursday or Thrice you would probably like Finch.

    Very good song. 9.10/10 :)

Will would never give permission for another band to sing his music. The reason for this, is because of the fact he could easily get ripped off and have the band take full credit for the lyrics when in reality, he was the one who wrote it in the first place.

Furthermore, Will plans to someday be in a band, and not that you would do this, but if he ever found out you stole his lyrics for your own gain he'd definetely sue you. I'm only saying this for your own good because trust me, the best way to getting respected in the music industry is writing your own lyrics and making your own material. Nobody wants to pay over 10 bucks to listen to a band play music they didnt write anymore.

Just try learning how to write your own lyrics even if it might take a little while longer. I know for a fact Will would never allow permission even if you promised him you wouldn't take credit as someone asked this before and Will's response was a loud and definite, "No".

Writing lyrics may be hard, but if you dig deep inside of your soul, sometimes they come to your mind like as if you were a lyric magnet.

Agreed. Will's done it again. I've felt similarly, but your writing really makes the mix of love and hate clear. (In my life it's usually rather muddy.)

i liked the first part of the poem, it was about to get an 8.9/10, then i read the butterfly kisses, and the burn burn that made me think of usher too, and the complete turn around i thought hindered the song/poem. so i lowered it to a 7/10, a great poem at the start, one of your better ones, untill the end comes
