suicidalmelodies, this is a nice topic. And I agree with you. I wanted to say something about it in the other topic, but you were ahead of me. Anyway, I think it's very wrong to say suicide is stupid. I can write down my whole opinion here, but I don't think that's necessary, because you already wrote it down. (thanks for doing that )
I wouldn't say suicidal people are stupid, but I definitely think contemplating suicide is a sign of weakness. That might sound harsh but it reflects badly on you when you want to commit suicide, because think of all the people who've had much worse than you. You may have a problem, but it's never the worse. I read on Faceparty about a woman who was raped by 250 men when she was just 5 years ago. Now THAT'S the kind of thing that would really traumatize people for life and I'm not surprised if she considered suicide. But she didn't. She stayed strong, she pulled through and now she's helping other rape victims overcoming the trauma. I'm not saying that ordinary teenagers aren't entitled to feeling "depressed". We all feel the pressure and anguish when parents neglect us/beat us up, girlfriends/boyfriends ditch us or when we feel lonely. So what I meant is: your death won't make a difference. It'll only cause a lot of pain and sadness for others. And you'll be surprised how many people care. Suicide isn't stupid, it's just a big fat waste when you think about it.
You know, all that is so true. And I agree, it is a waste. But we cant prevent it. And everyone has weaknessess (speling?). I sure as hell have my share. But you people have to understand WHY others do it. Because they want out, they want to give up. The think life is no longer worth living. Which, in some cases, it really isnt. I honestly dont blame people for commiting suicide if they have true reason. Yes, I do pity them to some extent. I feel sorry that the temporary sadness in thier lives caused them to snap and just forget everything they had, or could have had. I feel sorry that they will always be used as an example of what NOT to do. An example of "angst amongst out young people". I am one of societies "young people". But I, however f*cked up my life is, realize I have it better than some people. The ones who do commit suicide, are convinced that there is nobody out there worse off than they are, or the world might feel a little pain at first, but in the long run would be better off without them to mess things up. It's sad that people think this yes I know. I sure as hell know I feel the same way most times. But it's the times I feel good about myself, and what I do that keep me here. It's my best friends Ariel, Sami, Evan, and my boyfriend Bronson that keep me here. It's my music, and the music I hear everyday when listening to an LP cd, or my writing, my drawings. Those keep me here. And I cant help thinking, that just maybe if more people felt like this at least once in their lives, they would realize that suicide is a cowards way out, and that they do have things to live for. Because, in SOME cases it can be prevented, others, it's just too late. Therefore, they can not be prevented. Furthermore, I was NOT wrong, but niether were you. However, I was wrong in just saying "it cant be prevented", I should have said, "sometimes, it cannot be prevented". And for that I am sorry, cause I seriously confuzzled myself. i think suicide can be prevented. when one of your friends is ready to jump out oof her window and you come in there, you CAN stop him/her from jumping. but then again, she'll just try it again when youre not there and she'll succeed. so in a way, it cant be prevented over a long period of time.
