In a new book titled "Plan of Attack" author Bob Woodward of The Washington Post, dives deep into the war of Iraq, revealing that soon after 9/11, Cheney developed what he called a "unhealthy fixation" on trying to find a connection between Iraq and the September 11th terrorist attacks.

When interviewed about this topic Bush revealed that he feared "enormous international angst and domestic speculation" if news got out that America was already fighting another conflict, so close on the heels of 9/11.

"I knew what would happen if people thought we were developing a potential war plan for Iraq," Bush was quoted as saying, "It was such a high stakes moment and...it would look like I'm anxious to go to war. And I'm not anxious to go to war."

Bush told Bob Woodward that Afghanistan was heavy on his mind when Cheney began his obsessive search for a link between Iraq and 9/11 and that he didn't really start focusing on Iraq till later on. Woodward claims that many members of the Bush administration (not necessarily Bush himself) were focused on Saddam from the outset of Bush's presidency, long before the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The book went further to say that Cheney was an advocate for war, whereas Colin Powell wasn't sure that a war in Iraq was needed at the current time. Such disagreements led to an alienation between the two members of the Bush Administration who were portrayed as "barely on speaking terms".

Although I have not read this book yet, from what I gather in the article about the book I find all this information very interesting. For once a finger is being pointed somewhere else than Bush, and the results are quite intriquing.

    What do you think?

So Colin Powell isn't interested in the war and thinks its stupid. That's pretty cool. I have some respect for the guy then i guess.

Colin Powell has no choice but to go along with the war. He has to take orders from the President. If he doesn't, that's treason (I think, or something along those lines) and he can be thrown in prison.

No doubt there are others who hold blame for the War. The reason Bush takes all of it is because he's in charge. Ultimately its his fault.

What confuses me is why did the US go after Saddam instead of Bin Ladin? they should of captured Bin Ladin first.

    Right?

I think we are searching for both of them. Media is covering Saddam so much cause we caught him. Just because the media isn't covering it, doesn't mean we're still searching for him. Meh.

The special forces (I'm sure) are right behind him, with the ability to capture him, but right now they're probably trying to gather intel.
