Joe plays the samples when they play live, but all the strings on the album were played by real people. There's strings in almost every song.

and yer there are live strings on most of meteora. however LP have played with them that much they are hard to hear :wth:

this is what the meteora booklet says:

strings on "breaking the habit" and "faint" arranged by mike shinoda and dave campbell
violins: joe derouin, charlie bisharart, alyssa park, sara parkins, michelle richards, mark robertson.
    violas: evan wilson, bob becker
    celli: larry corbett, dan smith.
shakuhachi flute on "nobodys listening": david zasloff

i hope that has answered your question ^_^

Exactly. See? BTH and Faint. The rest of the strings on the album were done on keyboard/synthesizer by Mike.

I don't think so...Real people played them in the album for all the songs that have strings in them. Mike plays the synthesizer LIVE for Breaking The Habit. Joe has the samples for Faint, etc.

They only listed "Breaking The Habit" and "Faint" because those are the songs where the strings are most prominent. All those people played the strings for the other songs as well. Think about it: They're not going to list "Somewhere I Belong" too seeing as how there's only about 3-4 seconds worth of strings near the end.
