To answer the question.....I don't know why they named it that. My interpretation is that a figure 8 is perfect and always goes around, but a figure 9 stops, symbolizing that life isn't perfect and that you may feel pain through life.

ok it did make sense [figure.09] before LP took A.06 out of the track 6 spot on meteora, figure.09 was track 9, so when a.06 was taken out figure.09 bumped down to track 8 [the meteora you have today]
