In the year 2000 Linkin Park headed over to Boston for their first performance in the city, and we have no idea what they played since there is no known setlist for this show. All we know is that this performance was one of the three in a row where the band for a radio stations event, so we can guess that the band performed a similar set as the other two shows, but we don't know so maybe they just played one song. But we do have a recording of the show that took place two days afterwards.

For the bands second performance in Boston, we at least know part of what they played. Just a few months after their latest performance, in April of 2001, Linkin Park returned to the city of Boston, and for all we know they performed a five song set consisting of 'With You', 'By Myself', 'Forgotten', 'Crawling', and 'One Step Closer'. It's safe to assume they played more songs, but these are all that are known to have been played.

It then took nine years, nine months and twelve days for the next Boston performance by Linkin Park. It was during their 2011 A Thousand Suns tour that the band finally returned, having skipped this city for other Massachusetts locations on both the Meteora and Minutes to Midnight tours, and we finally have a full setlist of a performance in Boston! Attendees at this show got to see some great performances of not just songs like 'When They Come for Me', 'Jornada del Muerto', 'Waiting for the End', 'Burning in the Skies', 'Fallout', 'The Catalyst', 'Wisdom, Justice, And Love', and 'Iridescent' off of the new album, but also a shorter lived song, 'No More Sorrow'. Songs that were a mainstay in the set at the time are still mainstays, songs like 'In the End', 'Numb', 'Papercut', 'What I've Done', 'Faint', 'One Step Closer', and 'Bleed It Out'. There's both a good audience recording of the set, and a officialy released DSP, but unfortunately, no one has combined them... yet. So you can pick what to listen to/watch here below.

When Mike Shinoda started playing solo shows in 2018, Boston was one of his last stops for the tour that year. To close out the show, Mike, Dan, and Matt were joined on stage by members of the opening act 'Don Broco', to play 'A Place for My Head' for the first time on the tour. This would become a frequent occurrence at the shows going forward, with Mike, Dan, and Matt being joined by a guest at random shows to play the song. Thankfully, there exists footage we can watch of this first occurrence, released by Mike on Instagram. Watch it here below.

Brooklyn got to host Linkin Park for the first show back on tour, having taken about two weeks off after their massive Europe tour, and the band kept with their tried and tested setlist once again. With the biggest change being that they moved the usual encore into the main set, with the normal last songs of the main set to end the encore section. So the set now ends with 'Papercut', 'In the End', and the last song being 'Faint'. This was also done for the second show in Frankfurt, changing the set around from the night before. If this stays for the rest of the tour or not, we'll just have to wait and see. Is this a change that you like, or do you prefer the way it has been done for the majority of the tour. Mike also seemed to be on a Biggie Smalls kick for the night, not only wasn't 'Hypnotize' played before the band took the stage, for Mikes solo medley he rapped the third verse of 'UNTIL IT BREAKS', which references Biggie, he even rapped a verse from 'Notorious Thugs' over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' instead of a Linkin Park/Fort Minor verse! Safe to say that Mike is a fan.

    First.

I didn’t know about the Don Braco APFMH collaboration. That’s cool stuff. Live performance guests have to be my favorite thing to see. I hope LP warms right back up to collabs in all forms.

If the recent pics posted on social media are anything to go by, we might be getting a certain addition soon...one of two mentioned that Emily liked.

    The hope for "Blackout" returns.

My implication was that LGM is definitely getting played, which puts "Blackout" on the table

Did they actually play LGM, for real, out of all songs

This is actually awesome in its own certain away ahah

Also if they could keep that "deep cut" spot, that opens the door for a lot of cool stuff

Intro/bridge a bit shaky on the samples work ^^'

    Emily rasp fits pretty nicely.

I'd say, the one thing the band never got quite right with the live version is the dynamic shift between the different choruses. The studio version has the first one being more about the vocoder and the almost mocking/sarcastic tone of the shouting, while the last one is supposed to go full-on loosing-your-grip. I guess the screamy chorus is a bit hard to pull off live, but one way around it would be to go easier with the first ones, so that the last one can then have the aggressive rasp.

Still great they played it. Absolutely random but fun.

If this is anything to go by, it seems likely this will be more or less the setlist I'll get in Nashville since our date will be on a multiple of three. Meaning setlist C.

I'm going to cross my fingers for "Lying from You" somehow. The heavy rotation seems pretty locked in so I assume it's definitely going to be "IGYEIH" and not my beloved "Casualty" but beggars can't be choosers. :p

Speaking of IGYEH, I think Boston had arguably the best-sounding outro so far.

Emily nailed the end non-stop, safe for one tiny break when the riff was already over. Not sure, but think it's the first time she did so.

I was hoping Lynn would make an appearance! Nice.

Edit: that was originally such a crappy paragraph that I had to delete it in embarrassment. There are better ways to discuss what changes live with Emily or anyone in a different range than the originals. And even done right, it feels kinda dumb this early on in the celebration leg of the band’s revival.
