Linkin Park are continuing their From Zero World Tour in Europe, leaving United Kingdom after their awesome performance at Wembley Stadium in London. The band now returns to Germany yet again to continue their tour there. The band has visited Germany several times during this tour cycle for From Zero, and now they will be headed to Düsseldorf's Merkur Spiel-Arena.

This will be band's third of five shows in Germany for 2025, not including their special appearance in Munich for the UEFA Champions League final a month ago. The last location on the band's itinerary in Germany will be Frankfurt, for a double night at Deutsche Bank Park, before they return in 2026 for six shows, including headlining appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. The band is on a great run and will undoubtedly bring a lot of energy from their London trip to their performance in Düsseldorf!

For Linkin Park, this is only their third time playing in Düsseldorf, despite Germany being their second most-visited country, after their home country of the United States. Both of their previous shows in Düsseldorf have been at this same venue though! The Merkur Spiel-Arena has had a different name each time the band has performed there.

Linkin Park's first performance in Düsseldorf was during a short Europe Projekt Revolution leg in 2008, where they played at the LTU Arena to promote the newly-released Minutes to Midnight. The band opened the show with a long intro to "No More Sorrow", a fitting song for an energetic start to the night. The set also included "Points of Authority", featuring not just one but two different parts of Fort Minor songs, with "Petrified" verse two over the extended intro and "There They Go" verse one over the extended outro.

Video footage of "No More Sorrow" opening the band's first show in Düsseldorf, with an extended synth and guitar intro!

This show also included a performance of the song "In Pieces", a song exclusive to 2007 and 2008, which has never been played again since the end of the 2008 touring year.

The band performs their deep cut "In Pieces" in Düsseldorf.

The performance of "Bleed It Out" that night closed the main set, featuring a drum solo by Rob Bourdon and a singalong with the fans. Mike also performed the song after putting on a custom T-shirt a fan from LPLive had given to him, saying "I ❤ PHX". Phoenix was feeling the love that night! For the encore, the band opened with "Cure for the Itch," then closed out with a heavy run of "A Place for My Head", "Faint", and finally "One Step Closer".

"Bleed It Out" live in Düsseldorf, 2008. Mike has just put on his Phoenix shirt at the start of this recording!

After many years, Linkin Park returned to Düsseldorf in 2015, where they performed as the headliner for the Rock im Sektor festival — the festival's first and only edition. The LTU Arena at this point was now known as Esprit-Arena, and the band played there alongside a few German bands such as Kraftklub and Broilers (who now co-headline several German festivals like Rock am Ring/Rock im Park or the Hurricane/Southside Festivals), Irie Révoltés, and Turbostaat.

Somehow, some hip-hop slipped between these other rock bands, as Mike also performed at Rock im Sektor as Fort Minor, part of his few performances in 2015 promoting the release of Fort Minor's first single in ten years, "Welcome". He performed his Fort Minor set earlier in the evening, between Irie Révoltés and Kraftklub. Part of this surprising but welcome appearance was a mash-up of "Believe Me" and "When They Come for Me", a remix version of "Believe Me" that also included the first verse of "When They Come for Me".

The Fort Minor "Believe Me" live remix at Rock im Sektor, with a verse from "When They Come for Me".

This show also brought fans one of the few rare solo performances of "UNTIL IT BREAKS", which has still never been performed by Linkin Park other than single verses rapped over extended portions of other songs. Mike performed the entire song other than the ending sung section, as it transitioned into the Fort Minor hit "Where’d You Go" following the last rap verse.

"UNTIL IT BREAKS" at Rock im Sektor, one of the few performances of the song on its own.

Later that evening, Linkin Park finally performed — and they opened with a powerful start: a back-to-back run of "Papercut", "Given Up", and "Rebellion"! This was also the period where the band included "A Line in the Sand" in their setlists, giving fans a chance to witness their six-minute epic live. Mike performed both "Remember the Name" and "Welcome" during the band's set as well, as the band had been doing for their other shows in 2015. He skipped those songs for his Fort Minor set so that he could include other songs there! Joe Hahn missed this Düsseldorf show because of a family emergency, so his tech Warren Willis took his spot and the DJ solo Joe usually performed was omitted.

The band's closing track from The Hunting Party, "A Line in the Sand", at Rock im Sektor!

Ten years after Rock im Sektor, Linkin Park will now return to Düsseldorf to perform again at the home of the associated football team Fortuna Düsseldorf, now known as Merkur Spiel-Arena. There must be a connection at this point, because every time they have returned, the stadium has had a different name.

As mentioned earlier, this show comes after the band just finished their biggest solo show ever in London! What a show that was, with additional lights and pyrotechnics they brought out just for Wembley Stadium. "Cut the Bridge" returned to the set, and for the first time the band used the "New Divide" Moscow intro for it. That intro was briefly introduced for "New Divide" in 2011, before being revived 13 years later for their first shows after the band returned last year. It seemed like it could have been a mistake at first, but according to the setlist, it was not! That’s something new! "New Divide" was lost in the echo though…

"Cut the Bridge" live from Wembley Stadium, with the "Moscow intro" originally created for "New Divide"!

Another great return to the setlist was "A Place for My Head," taking the place of "Let You Fade" yet again, after it won in Mike's poll on X (formerly Twitter) against "Let You Fade" and "Points of Authority". The fans at Wembley definitely ate well that evening, even though they didn't have any Linkin Pizza like fans did in Milan.

    :linkin_pizza:

The band performs "A Place for My Head" in London.

Mike also performed the first verse of "UNTIL IT BREAKS" for the first time under Linkin Park, having only done so previously during his Fort Minor shows in 2015 (such as in Düsseldorf). Mike also showed off his universal language skills, giving his best attempt at the very difficult native tongue of England.

The band will probably continue with a similar setlist to what they played in London at Wembley Stadium. We don't know if Brad Delson is still with them after Saturday's show, but since he didn't play at Wembley, it seems like he likely won't be coming out to play during the European tour leg as many had hoped. That's okay, because Alex Feder is doing a great job on guitar and interacting with the fans!

With livestreaming becoming more accessible than ever, fans at home have been able to watch shows on social media via YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram livestreams from attendees. While we are not asking our readers to livestream the show, if anyone reading this finds a stream or is streaming it themselves, let us know so we can watch along with you!

This show will be my fifth Linkin Park concert ever, and the second time seeing them with Emily. While Hamburg was a great start in Germany for her, I can only imagine that after all the other shows, she has only gotten even better!

It will be my second time at this venue, as I attended the Rock im Sektor concert here in 2015. I'm excited to return ten years later and couldn’t be more hyped for this concert. I’ll be in the FOS 1 (left) section, so maybe we’ll meet there in the pit!

Having played Germany so often recently, maybe they'll change up the setlist more?

Nah, it's Linkin Park. We continue to suffer through Somewhere I Belong.

Yes, Keys To The Kingdom would be a dream. Even Casualty would be cool. I wish for A Place For My Head but since they played it 2 times in a row I don't think we will see it tonight.

From what I'm reading the transitions were the B transitions, not A.

Also having now played 3 different shows in Germany for 2025, here are some depressing facts!

    1. Of the three Germany shows, the transitions used were A, B, and B. That's right, even with 3 shows LP found a way to not do each of the unique transitions! Germany got no C versions!
    2. Of the three Germany shows, they only did 2 unique Overflow intros. Hannover and Berlin both got Metallica's One intro to Overflow, while Düsseldorf got Dr. Dre's The Next Episode.
    3. The rotation spot after Lost so far has rotated between 3 songs: Stained, Over Each Other, and Good Things Go. With 3 Germany dates, all 3 definitely got played, right? Negative! Germany has not gotten Stained live.
    4. The heavy rotation song for the European leg of the tour trades off between three songs: Casualty, Given Up, and IGYEIH. Three songs on the rotation, you'd guess one got played at each Germany show, right? Nah, you get Given Up twice and no IGYEIH.
    5. The encore rotation spot for this leg has rotated between Let You Fade and A Place For My Head. Surely, with 3 Germany dates, they'd cover both rotation spots! Nope! All 3 Germany shows got Let You Fade and no APFMH.

With 2 more Germany shows on this leg of the tour, will Germany ever get Stained? Will they ever get IGYEIH? Will they get APFMH? Find out next time on Dragonball Z!

What's up with the LIDL suit for TF, that's proper awesome

Seems like the heavy rotation spot is now Casualty - Given Up - IGYEIH, with the latest replacing KTTK thus. I really wish they'd have replaced Given Up instead, but in term of popularity, they made the most sense-making decision.
