    Linkin Park
continues their European tour tomorrow with a headlining performance at the I-Days festival in Milan, Italy. This will be the sixth show of the 2025 summer run, following five prior shows across Austria, Czechia, Germany, and France. Though the band had to cancel their appearance in Bern, Switzerland, due to internal medical issues, they returned strong with a festival set at Hellfest on Sunday—and all signs point to the momentum continuing in Milan.

I-Days stands apart from the other festivals on Linkin Park’s summer itinerary, functioning more as a multi-month series of headliner shows than a typical weekend event. Launched in Bologna in 1999 as Independent Days, the festival was rebranded in 2016 and is currently held in Milan. Linkin Park headlines the fourth I-Days Milano date on June 24 this year, playing alongside Spiritbox, Jimmy Eat World, and JPEGMAFIA—and with each date running as a standalone concert, the band should be playing a full or near-full set!

Milan has also had the pleasure of welcoming yet another pop-up event from the band, like Linkin Park did in April when visiting Austin, Texas. While Austin's pop-up revolved around the "Linkin Pork" tacos and their friendly pig mascot, the band has focused on pizza for their pop-up in Milan. Today's "Linkin Pizza" pop-up, in collaboration with local pizzeria Da Zero, features a special pizza menu, exclusive merchandise, and has even brought surprise appearances from the band!

In terms of history, Milan is a familiar city for Linkin Park—in fact, the majority of their shows in Italy have taken place here. This includes their first-ever Italian show in March 2001 while supporting Deftones. The band then returned to Milan in September 2001 for a shorter show at the now-defunct Rolling Stone club for a TV special broadcast by MTV Live, which was not publicly ticketed. The show opened with a new extended loop intro for "With You" recently debuted at London's Docklands Arena, and included all of Hybrid Theory except "Cure for the Itch," in addition to the B-side "High Voltage" in its live rendition with extra lead guitar.

The full Linkin Park performance from Milan broadcast by MTV.

During the Meteora cycle, the band returned to Milan in February 2003 to kick off the Meteora LP Underground Tour ahead of the album's release. They debuted three-quarters of the album at the Alcatraz club that night, opening with "Session" into "Don't Stay." In total, eight songs from Meteora were debuted, with the remainder of the set introducing "Somewhere I Belong," "Lying From You," "Faint," "From the Inside," and the elusive "Hit the Floor" and "Easier to Run"—both of which would only last through Projekt Revolution in the spring and have never been played since.

Live audio recording of "Easier to Run" as performed in Worcester, Massachusetts, two weeks after Milan, synced with other live footage available from the song's brief time performed live.

The band later hit other Italian cities for the next few tours, hitting Venice in 2008 (after their ill-fated canceled Heineken Jammin' appearance there the year prior) and Imola in 2011. With The Hunting Party in 2014, Linkin Park brought Milan yet another pre-release performance. Seven days before the album's global release on June 17, they performed at Alfa Romeo City Sound. The band opened with their lead single "Guilty All the Same" and also played "Wastelands" and "Until It's Gone" from the album, the latter of which received an official live video using fan-shot footage from the Milan crowd.

In 2015, the band finally performed in Italy's capital of Rome for the first time, before returning to northern Italy in 2017 for their debut at the newly rebooted I-Days, for I-Days 2017 held in Monza. During their set, Linkin Park performed a number of songs from One More Light, including "Talking to Myself," "Good Goodbye," and "One More Light," among others. Footage from the I-Days 2017 performance of "One More Light" went on to be featured in the official tribute music video released after Chester's passing, with intimate footage of Chester performing in the Monza crowd featured prominently. I-Days 2017 undoubtedly has a different kind of memory for many fans who were there for that performance.

The performance of "One More Light" from I-Days in 2017, the band's last appearance in Milan and at the festival series.

Mike Shinoda also performed a date in Milan for the Milano Rocks festival in 2018, performing several songs that Linkin Park will undoubtedly be playing tomorrow as well. Most notably, he performed a mashup of "Where'd You Go" and "Waiting for the End" that was commonplace on the Post Traumatic tour, foreshadowing the Fort Minor song's inclusion in Linkin Park's set just before "Waiting for the End."

Mike's "Where'd You Go" and "Waiting for the End" mashup performed at Milano Rocks 2018.

Europe's setlist has remained fairly consistent so far, with some of the only big changes being the removal and subsequent re-addition of "Waiting for the End" to the festival setlists, as well as the dropping of "New Divide" for festivals. Linkin Park's set at Hellfest also saw the first time "Let You Fade" has been dropped since it debuted at Welcome to Rockville in May, replaced by "A Place for My Head"—a song whose absence was notably questioned for the band's controversial 2017 Hellfest appearance.

"Two Faced" live from Hellfest 2025.

As the band looks to be playing a full-length setlist, it's likely it will follow the format of their recent solo headlining dates. The most recent of these was their date at Berlin's Olympiastadion, the band's biggest solo show of their career so far—at least until their upcoming Wembley Stadium appearance this Saturday! In Berlin, "Cut the Bridge," "Given Up," and "Good Things Go" filled in the rotating slots for the set, with the encore rotation slot seen prior to Europe remaining static with "Let You Fade" holding its position. Fans can reasonably expect the band to continue with this format for I-Days, though it remains to be seen whether the encore spot for "Let You Fade" will return to a rotation, or if the "A Place for My Head" substitution yesterday was an adjustment tailored to Hellfest.

The full encore set from Berlin, captured from an angle that really emphasizes the size of the crowd!

As Linkin Park reaches the halfway point of their European run, "Unshatter" has yet to make a debut, but tracks off From Zero continue to be a strong part of their setlist. This especially the case with "Heavy Is the Crown," used as an encore staple while the band continues to license it for usage by large names in sports and esports. Mike will likely also continue his tradition of rotating rap verses during the "When They Come for Me" and "Remember the Name" mashup. "Hands Held High" and "High Voltage" seem like logical future picks, especially given their live history across his solo, Fort Minor, and Linkin Park performances!

Any way you slice it, Linkin Park's performance for I-Days seems likely to be a great one. We wish safety and fun for all fans attending!

Not expecting big changes for the European run.

So, sticking to what they've played so far, I'd say, Europe needs more "Keys to the Kingdom". If I'm not mistaken, as far as European shows go, it has only been played once in London last autumn. I bet german crowds would give it a great reception.

Also, super cool the band showed up at the pizza event! :linkin_pizza:

I'll be at this show tomorrow night, even though I'll probably be quite distant from the stage. Honestly I can't wait, I-Days 2017 was the first live music show I ever bought a ticket for when I was a teen, and I thought I would never be able to see Linkin Park again.

I'll take some pictures and videos and try to review the show here afterwards!

It'd be fun to see LP have some more guests during festivals days in general, when there are good opportunities. Those can turn into big highlights and special dates to remember.

it's still pretty cool they brought up Page for AFN back in November.

"Two Faced" or "One Step Closer" would be the coolest in my eyes

Two Faced would be insane. She comes up on stage during the first part the bridge. "We've got a special guest for you tonigh".

I've seen conversations about how wild it is TF may be getting crazier reactions from the crowds than OSC. Which has historically being THE song where the crowd goes the wildest. A true successor.

I hate this trend of shortened songs. Their sets don't go over 2 hours so you're telling me they can't just play The Catalyst in full? Lame.

Biggest problem with shortened Catalyst is that it skips the best part of the song.

Yeah and it's literally also less than a minute extra to play "The Catalyst" in full.

Just play the whole thing! It was a lead single!

Alright, here I am, back in my hometown and trying to recollect all of my feelings about this show.
I want to throw out all the negative stuff first, mainly because most of it isn't really on the band or on the show itself, so I can focus on the positive aspects later.
I entered the venue less than an hour before the start of the LP set. This happened because the three-hour drive to get to Milan became a five-hour drive because of traffic on the highway and in Milan. And well, that's on me, I knew that in those circumstances I'd be at the bottom of the crowd and I was okay with it. It's not my first time, and I often find it to be more enjoyable to be back rather than, say, halfway through: I'm short, so I also usually can see the stage better this way. But what happened here with I-Days is that there were gazeboes and I guess some sort of VIP structure (according to the map) built at the beginning of the (huge) gold pit zone, that covered basically the whole bottom half of the stage, making the band completely invisible for the hundreds of people who were behind that zone.

This was my pov with a zoom in from my cellphone camera. You can see there is some sort of infrastructure blocking the whole view there.

Look, I know that I bought a general admission ticket, and I shouldn't expect to be able to see the show the same way as someone who bought the Gold Pit/LPU Pit/FZ Pit. But I still paid for this event, and it was NOT cheap. 100€ is not a cheap ticket. Me, my friends and all the people that was in my area, should not have been forced to see the whole show just from the screens... that wouldn't even work properly. The screens would lag, freeze, and die so many times during the show, making it impossible to see anything but the lights and the visualizers in the back of the stage. I can see a LP show through a functioning screen every day, for free, and without having to deal with the summer heat. I think the fault of this is on I-Days, so I really hope this won't happen again next year in Florence. I have a general admission ticket for that show too, despite my love for the band I just CAN'T afford a Pit ticket right now. And I'm fine with not being close to the stage for it, but I want to at least SEE the band I'm paying, even if they are just tiny silhouettes far away. Some people also complained about the sound but I didn't mind it, I could hear the singing and the instruments very clearly and I don't need it to be loud as fuck to be enjoyable. I don't like my ears to ring after every show, so that was fine, I think. I also saw that food and drinks were overpriced with the usual fraudulent token system that every big festival in Italy uses, so I decided to just don't care about it and I didn't buy anything, I'm not paying a tiny sandwich and a beer 20€ :bradwink:
This also meant that I didn't eat anything until the morning after the show because every shop was closed by the time we managed to get back to the area of our hotel. Nice!

I also want to highlight that, despite everything I just said, I was very very happy to be at a Linkin Park show again after 8 years from the last one I went to. As I said, I was a teen back then, I had never been to live show without my family yet, and I was seeing my favorite band. Attending this show brought back so many good memories, and still gave me joy, despite any inconvenience.

Here I am, with the same shirt I bought during the One More Light show in 2017, and a lot less hair.

Okay, with all of that out of the way, let's finally talk about the actual show! And... damn, Linkin Park is so back. I always thought that the band and their songs had an extra gear on stage during the Chester era, and now I find this to be also true for this return.
The act structure was interesting and kept the show together while also making it feel like a rush, never tiring but not short or incomplete. In this regard, I think this show was better than the OML tour one I've seen in 2017 also at I-Days.
Emily started the show maybe a bit insecure but then quickly found her footing and started to have more and more fun, she was clearly enjoying the night more and more as it went by. She gifted us with a GREAT scream in the last part of Waiting For The End, where she usually does the high falsetto "got", and it was beautiful.

WFTE is my favorite song of all time and it was done so much justice, I loved every second of it. She killed it on basically every scream, not a single voice crack that I can recall. She improved so much in such a short time! The crowd singed her a "Sei bellissima" ("You're beautiful" from a famous old italian song) chant and she laughed, I hope se knew what they were saying LOL

Mike was great as he always is. He's just born for this. He always sounds so energic, like he never gets older or tired. He also had so many cute moments with the crowd in the front rows lucky them and yeah, I really liked his performance. His solo ruled.

Colin, Alex, Dave and Joe all did great. Joe didn't mess up any timing this time LOL
The only song where I could see Mike and Emily struggle a bit was The Catalyst. Which was also the song where Mike and Chester struggled the most in 2017 too. I think The Catalyst is just an hard song to sing.
Overflow was the highlight from the From Zero songs. The last chours, with the lights and the screens and the screams is just so good, it has a special vibe that it's unique in the whole LP catalogue. Two Faced was also good I think, but there was no mosh or jumping where I was standing so... yeah. (I was sorrounded by people mostly in their 40s/50s that mainly just stood there and took selfies...)

The best received songs were the usual suspects: In The End, What I've Done, Papercut. But also Faint, somewhat surprisingly? Or at least, that was the only song the people around me really went nuts with.

I think we had a good setlist for this show. I wish they had played Let You Fade or Good Things Go, but the band knows that A Place For My Head is a special song for the italian LP community so it was a good choice to put that song in the encore. They could also balance the album ratio a bit, nine songs from HT and Meteora are a lot compared to two from MTM, just one from LT, none from THP and OML.

Overall, despite everything, I still had a good time. I just wish I had a more direct experience with the show. The performance was great, and I can't wait to see them in Florence next year. That's very near me, so hopefully I won't get inside the venue late LOL

Hope I didn't bore you with this post, it's longer than I tought it'd be!

Dang. Sounds like a pretty rough festival experience, but it's good to see you still can find some silver lining! Ive heard the Arnhem stadium date also had some promoter nonsense where people paid a pretty substantial amount for a ticket that gave them basically no view of the band.

Sucks because it seems like the band is really doing as much as they can to give fans a good performance. But the organizers and promoters have all the power in terms of the ticketing and event setup. :/

Hopefully Florence will be much better! :)
