Linkin Park has announced via a tweet that will be a From Zero "audiovisual listening event" taking place in Toronto, Canada on November 14, a day ahead of the album's release date. The event will be hosted in partnership with Arcadia Earth, an exhibit currently in Toronto which promises "large-scale multi-sensory journeys". In addition to presumably hearing the full album complete with custom synced visuals, fans who attend will get to enjoy a merch pop-up store. The full event will run from 6 PM to 8 PM, and the announcement tweet notes that it's an open event. Linkin Park has held audiovisual social events to herald new albums in the past, specifically the A Thousand Horizons art show livestreamed from Tokyo in 2010, which you can watch here, and the LIVING THINGS event at Los Angeles' Sonos Studio gallery in 2012, which was documented in this LPTV episode. This From Zero experience will more than likely follow in the same vein, but it might go further in terms of immersion if Arcadia Earth's Instagram photos are anything to go by. The band's official website currently has a listening party locator, and Arcadia Earth's merch pop-up can now be seen listed there, but there is no concurrent mention of this listening party. At time of writing, the above tweet is still the only avenue through which it has been announced. Toronto will also play host to an advance album listening party later this week, at Kops Records on November 9 - this is part of a long list of worldwide listening parties leading up to the November 15 release date that you can find out about here. In addition, more merch pop-ups have been announced for Australia around the From Zero release date, beginning with one in Sydney on the day itself - Friday, November 15 - hosted at the gaming/entertainment-focused venue Fortress. This will be followed by a pop-up in Melbourne at Oshi Gallery on Saturday, November 16, and, lastly, one at Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on Sunday, November 17. Further details on these Australian merch pop-up events can be found on this page. Source: Linkin Park on Twitter
I'll definitely have to head to the Melbourne pop-up store. The marketing this album cycle has been brilliant.
How does one actually sign up for the Toronto event? https://listentofz.linkinpark.com/ Only takes you to a page where you find the date/time/location of the event, but no way I can see to actually buy tickets / claim a spot?
"Open event" likely implies that there's no sign-up involved, you just turn up and get in if there's room.
I'm torn because this sounds unreal but I live far enough away that I can't justify making both the listening party on the 9th and this event, especially on a weeknight.
I'm just saying, I think hearing the album for the first time as part of an immersive audiovisual experience would be pretty cool
I totally agree with you. But am I strong enough to wait the 5 additional days? Especially if it becomes "available" elsewhere before then? Tough to say.
