Yeah, it feels and sounds just like as a 2003 LP track would. I get why they favored Numb above this, but I'm glad we got it out now, I'll probably have it on repeat for a while. Not a fan of the AI processing on the music video, though.
Yeah, lyrics are kinda cringy, but if I was 13y.o. just like I was when Meteora was released i would vibe the living #$%# out of it.
I really like it. Got kind of emotional listening to it and the emotion in Chester's voice, especially in the second verse and the bridge. Brilliant track and I'm so happy that we get to hear Chester's voice on something new. That, and I love the fact the band are back in the media again and they are getting attention again. Feels like a new album release and the build up to that. I can see why they didn't include this on Meteora, especially as it was either this or Numb. However, I'm glad it's getting its own release and recognition, it's a really great song. Love the synths, the instrumentation, the chorus is catchy as hell, the power in Chester's voice throughout and that bridge - gives me goosebumps. Just pre-ordered the Deluxe Boxset as... well I just had to! The Meteora merch looks incredible also, love the designs. Have to add - really enjoyed the official music video also. The animation is great and the end with all 6 members are stars in the sky... incredible.
I listened to it and it is really cool to relive the 2003 sound but the song in itself does not impress me right away. We'll see after a few more listens. This might also be linked to the fact that I still have trouble listening to LP material...
To be honest, as much as people are talking about the song and how it feels like a demo, i love how real and raw it feels. It made me so incredibly happy to hear Chesters voice again in its rawest form (which I believe is 100% back in the day this was made) and I still can't stop listening to it. Although, I can say the second listen through hit harder then the first, once I took a good listen to the lyrics
The mixing / production on this song sounds so crisp. The dynamics are excellent too. Try and listen to the chorus of Numb, and then right away, to the Chorus of Lost. Huge difference IMO. Makes me wish the entire album would get that upgrade treatment. Edit: seems like "Fighting Myself" and "More The Victim" are also songs near completion (source : some Mike interview extracts in the New York Times )
I wasn’t expecting a whole from the music because it’s coming from easily my least favorite album, but it’s enjoyable enough! Catchy chorus (which is expected of LP), and I’m thankful to hear some more never heard Chester vocals. He sounds great on the song. But man that music video is a whole different story. I’m extremely disappointed with the use of AI. I had no idea they were doing that coming into watching the music video, but it’s glaringly obvious. It’s a shame they didn’t treat the music video with love and respect that the song deserved imo.
I dunno. I read Manny mixed the Lost track we have now and there's another one that Andy Wallace did.
I can't get over how good Chester vocals are on this. The grit, the power, the pitch. Incredible. The combination between such talent and Mike sense of melody really was a unique recipe, something that really made them a "special" band.
