The Red Chord - Fed Through The Teeth Machine (Deathgrind) Job For A Cowboy - Sun Eater (Technical Death Metal) Well, those are two bands that desperately need to come back! They were so good. JFAC went from Deathcore pioneers on their first EP Doom (Entombment of a Machine is a classic song) to badass Technical Death Metal with their 6th release Sun Eater. Then they went on hiatus But I've heard they've got a new album planned. TRC's vocalist is a cop now. Pretty cool, but I'd love some new music even though that seems unlikely as of now. However Mike "Gunface" McKenzie (The Red Chord guitarist) has a new band called Umbra Vitae with Jacob Bannon (Converge) on vocals. Their debut rules. Definitely recommended to those who dig the insanity that is Converge. (though Umbra Vitae is more on the Death Metal side)
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza - Danza 3: The Series of Unfortunate Events (Mathcore) The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza - Danza 4: The Alpha- the Omega (Mathcore)
Bleed From Within - Fracture (Metalcore) This is seriously some of the best Metalcore I've heard in a while!
Metallica - "...And Justice for All" Genre: Thrash Metal Iron Maiden - "The Book of Souls: Live Chapter" Genre: Heavy Metal
D'Angelo - Voodoo The Smiths - The Queen is Dead The Smiths - Rank The Smiths - Meat is Murder Had a free day to listen to my musical heroes. "Voodoo" and "The Queen is Dead" are albums I refer to a lot when making music or practicing guitar.
Nightwish - Human. :II: Nature. (Symphonic Metal) Within Temptation - The Unforgiving (Symphonic Metal) Epica - Design Your Universe - Gold Edition (Symphonic Metal) Delain - Apocalypse & Chill (Symphonic Metal) Been on a Symphonic Metal kick lately! Belive me or not, but I think this genre is home to some of the best vocalists not just in Metal, but music in general. Tarja, Simone Simons, Floor Jansen, Sharon den Adel, Charlotte Wessels, etc. ...
Chelsea Wolfe - Birth of Violence Plastikman - Consumed The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow The Breeders - All Nerve
Dream Theater - "Distance over Time" Genre: Progressive Metal It's honestly surprising to me how much this record has grown on me since it came out last year. It's easily the best record of the Mangini era, and probably their best record in 14 years
Between The Buried And Me - Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium [Progressive (Death-)Metal] The studio album is already brilliant, but this live version takes it to a whole nother level! I can't even comprehend how they memorize all those lyrics, riffs, drum patterns, etc. ... lol
