I can't wait for Mike's new stuff. I hope that he opens up to other creators too to get some input, just because I LOVE Blackbears influence in Sorry For Now (at least, what im guessing is his influence). Mike is super talented and with other artists' touches it could be a really colorful album.

They've helped. Both Brad and Dave have been in the studio contributing instrumentation to Mike's new songs he is working on, and Rob helped with percussion on at least one of the Post Traumatic songs (although I believe that's because it was an unused instrumental from the OML era if I'm not wrong).

They may not have a new Linkin Park record in the works just yet, but the other guys definitely aren't sitting on their hands :).

This is correct, those perc elements were done during OML

Man, this has me way too hyped. I hope for a 2018 release, but I at least know there will be a single probably before August.

Something tells me they will get a new singer once Mike's album is out.

Why? Mike's perfectly capable of fronting the band himself. I get there's the whole issue of doing the heavy songs live, but I'm sure they could figure something out.

I think what they could do is have Mike front the band and do joint tours, with the frontman from the other band they tour with repping the heavier side of the set.

Maybe this is silly, but I thought that LP could head into Massive Attack territory.
Producing music revolving around the band and a few ever-changing singers with Mike as the only constant, as Robert Del Naja in MA. This could provide a terrific creative freedom to the band, adapting the genre to the actual singer, it doesn't require to "replace" Chester since there is no definite new singer, and Mike wouldn't have the burden to carry it alone. I've had this thought since the end of summer and it still makes sense to me.

Having said this, I wouldn't absolutely mind if Mike were to continue this as solo front-man.

Could work, but from a touring standpoint it would likely be a logistical nightmare.

I honestly think once they get to that point that they won't be playing those Chester-esqu songs anymore that Mike simply can not do. Maybe play parts of them and mash them up with something else, and combine it with his solo stuff, but that's it.

    And I'm okay with that.

That's actually brilliant. Do a medley of some of the harder stuff, and mix together.

Like what? Having guest vocalists doesn't seem practical in the long run. The only other option is a new permanent vocalist.

I personally feel like that's the best option going forward, as long as they get someone good. I wouldn't mind having a fresh new voice influence the band's sound going forward.

I just see the rage train rolling... Any new guy doesnt matter how good or bad he will be would be compared with Chester.

Sure some fans like most of us here would support them in any direction their going, but I think the public wouldnt accept a new permanent vocalist that easily. Maybe after some time...

If someone comes new, then someone who know the guys and Mike and has been with people for many years.

no clue who that could be... :(

Wish all the grief gets channeled out in dramatically dark music drenched in pain with sadness all over. Be it a lp record or shinoda solo. Anything other than that will not be that effective when it comes to healing via uplifting angst. Post traumatic just managed to poke at it.

Anyways ...no expectations.... Whatever helps em get over it...

It's really unfortunate that grief and hardship is also a huge motivator for music.

It is the only bad side I thought about too. Would be cool if there would be a way though. Studio-wise the result would probably be great, especially with Mike's inclination to find hidden talents in niche genres. Just food for thought :)
