I always loved LP, but it resonated even more when I got a divorce last year. All the music about betrayal, loneliness, resentment felt more poignant with that new issue in my life. It was good to take solace in the music.
Yeah I agree, mostly all LP's music is about anger, pain, suffering, sadness, loneliness, depression. Even the soft stuff is depressing lyrics. LP is my solace, I feel like They are the only Music Artists I can relate too in life. They make us feel like we are not alone. And it helps give me strength to get through everyday of life.
So much of their music is about relationships. I think Chester kind of writes better from that perspective. At least their songs about relationships tend to be stronger.
I think especially after Meteora LP became very good at relationship songs. Just look at Leave Out All the Rest, Shadow of the Day, Powerless, Castle of Glass...yeah. The first two albums addressed relationship stuff but it's harder for it to resonate as a lot of people get older mostly just because it's a very young and angry mindset.
True fucking that. Hell, Powerless seems like it was written about the situation I was in a couple years ago. And like many others think, Linkin Park excel not only at making "break-up" songs, but depressing songs in general.
You dont have to be young to have an angry mindset, there are alot of angry people in the world at any age
For years I found solace with In Pieces after a toxic, manipulative relationship turned sour, and the girl threw me to the wind. The lyrics spoke to me in a one-on-one way that no other song has ever accomplished. The song will always hold a special place in my heart, even as I finally move on with my life. Interestingly, In Pieces went from a once dark and depressing song that I would confide to in tears, to now being a triumphant "fuck you" song that I wear with a smile on my face.
Yup, I agree. Yesterday me and my gf kinda broke up, at least I think so... going through all the "sad" LP songs today. And some Dead By Sunrise too.
While I can't directly relate to LP when it comes to break-ups, I find many of their songs relevant to the struggles of everyday life, both great and small. There is still something "therapeutic" about listening to even their oldest material (including pre-HT songs), and especially Meteora. Yes, Meteora still leaves me in a better mood/state of mind after listening to it from beginning to end once in a while, for whatever the reason.
Hunting Party came around my first breakup, and I also traveled to Colorado Springs a lot. I enjoyed seeing the mountains and the city while hearing the album. Seeing the big mountain while blasting "A Line In The Sand" on my car stereo always made me euphoric.
