#BBB on the bass. shhhh... don’t tell @phoenixLP Brad replacing the whole band on LP7 CONFIRMED! Except for Joe playing the phone, of course.
IIRC, they pretty much let everyone do vocals (mostly just harmonies) on MTM but they cut out everyone except for Mike and Chester It was addressed in a chat session on the LPU way back in the day, I think. But now it's normal for every album to have gang vocals, which is unusual for bands to do. Might get called out for being incorrect if someone else remembers more clearly than I do. In which case, I apologize in advance.
I agree with Tony that this is probably not anything significant. But Three Band Terror, man. That song always puts a smile on my face when I listen to it.
Yeah I'm mostly excited about this just because I love three band terror and wish it hadn't just been tacked on to UIB. But I think he sounds legitimately good on that track in a way Chester and Mike wouldn't, so I'm open to him leading vocals if it fits. Although it of course could be backups, I'm pretty sure he has a loud backup in the chorus of WTCFM?
You're right. Back in 2007, they said that everyone, even Joe, did backing vocals, but at the end of the mixing process, they cut them out and leave Mike and Chester vocals.
Definitely. For me it's because he's not a singer, so his accent shines through really strongly. Not something I'd want on every track but there's something about a guy with an American accent singing alone with an acoustic guitar that feels much more personal than much of the band's output. I hope they put a few moments like that on the new album.
The vocal and the instrumentation sound kind of intimate and raw - the vocal recording doesn't sound totally polished (or, to be more extreme, robbed of any personality by the audio processing) and abstract lyricism typically doesn't make the final cut on an LP track so we rarely ever get to hear it. Both of those things, I think, are what make "Three Band Terror" special as a demo.
WOW IS THIS A NEW SONG I HOPE THEY WILL GO IN THAT DIRECTION WOW UNBELIEVABLE IVE NEVER HEARD THEM SOUND LIKE THAT OMG https://www.instagram.com/p/BGuYSW9C4WC/?taken-by=linkinpark
