Maybe, but you're not gonna get a more biased, unreliable source on this than Scott Weiland, IMO

Also, I don't care about Stone Temple Pilots.

Yea it almost kills this potential rumour that we hear it first from Scott, but this other claim by Highly Suspect vocalist Johnny Stevens that STP reached to him in request to join the band a couple months ago does bode the question as to the extent of truth in this statement Weliand's making.

Personally I was anticipating the upcoming STP album but I won't fret if it's not happening.

I think the only thing people have a problem with is Chester's vocals, he (purposefully) strains them a lot on the studio version.

I think the tweet mentioned in the article is better evidence than Weiland. If he has left, then fair enough, I honestly was amazed that he intended to be the lead singer in two active bands, if they can get a lead singer who can commit full time to the band then I'm happy for them!

For me its because of the way Chester sounds. I understand the idea of the Messenger, and I like other acoustic style songs like Three Band Terror and the acoustic Final Masquerade, but the way he is singing in the Messenger just makes it absolutely impossible for me to listen to.

Absolutely impossible, just because of that?

Sir, have you been introduced to Revolution 9?

Was the same for me at first, but after some listening I begin to love it. It's what makes the song truly special.

    Never heard of it.

And yes, absolutely, I don't think I've ever been able to listen to it from start to finish.

I like the live version of "The Messenger" way more than the album version but I can deal with it just the same. Chester's performance really is the definition of "oversinging" to me.

Chester's backing vocals to Mike's rap in Easier to Run is one of the coolest moments in LP's discography imo. I wish the rest of the song was more compelling.

    :kappa:

I think the verses are alright in that song too.

That was me too, but after hearing this remix, it changed my perception of the track. The build up was so nice and I can feel Chester's emotions so much more. The original is easier to take in now. Not the best song out there, but I understand it more.

Pfft, that's easy mode, we're talking about Metal Machine Music levels of listening difficulty.

I was just picking a well-known song that is widely regarded as "unlistenable" by many.

Just found an ancient MP3 player that still worked. The first song that played was "Picture Frames" by Fallacy Flow (named on my MP3 as 'rare linkin Park demo!! Pictureframe")

The younger LP fans will never know the struggle...
