Robb Flynn, front man for the successful metal band, Machine Head, has been keeping journal entries that he shares publically on MachineHead1.com and Machine Head's Facebook page. While he writes very well written entries, he also proves valid points that you just can't help but listen to. His most recent entry really got me equally pissed off with his point. It should also be noted that, to me, this journal entry almost piggy-backs on Mike Shinoda's Pidgeons and Planes artice on Rock music sucking. Anyways, I want you guys to see it for yourself and see what you thought about it. Even if you are not a fan of his music, He does bring up some pretty valid points.

I generally agree with him. Robb's a really well spoken guy.

While I agree that venues should be more lenient, I can not agree that seeing a band drunken and incompetent would be fun, unless I want that...

I'm paying to see the band live for them to perform competently, not run around into violent stupors.

Also you have to be considerate of other bands playtimes and schedules.

    Don't be an asshole, man.

I don't agree or disagree really. It seems like he is just saying "Rock music sucks because the fans aren't dedicated and big venues won't let bands play longer" and while I would love to see longer venues(sometimes) I don't think rock fans has become less dedicated. Times just change.

If you're referring to Pearl Jam, they were the headliner of the show.

Yeah, he seemed like he was going somewhere until the "YOU PEOPLE TODAY AND YOUR TWITTERBOOKS" part. Then there was a lot of rambling about seemingly everything.

To be fair, the title of his journal entries are "THE GENERAL JOURNALS: DIARY OF A FRONTMAN... AND OTHER RAMBLINGS." He's just speaking his mind.

Definitely have to agree with music having too many boundaries and musicians not being able to break these boundaries because of the industry. I would kill to go to a show and not know it's going to end at 11pm. If the band is into it and the crowd is into it, the band should be allowed to keep going later. I realize it's harder on the people who work at the venue but you're working at a music venue and that should be something that's expected. It was back then and it should be now.

Also everything has become way too predictable and safe but that's the way the record labels want it to be because they aren't making any money as it is so they're definitely not into the bands they've signed taking risks.
