ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THERE IS "couple" MORE 6 MINUTE TRACKS?

Living Things was a relatively brief record. Is Guilty All The Same an indication that you’re going for a longer album experience?

“Well, I don’t know if all of the songs are six minutes long, but a couple of them are. A couple of them are shorter. I feel like the creative ethos that has inspired us is not to try to imitate convention but to defy it. Sometimes that means, if a typical pop song is three minutes and 30 seconds long – or even some rock songs – then ours will be six minutes long. Or even two minutes long."

This is ground breaking for LP for only having one 6 minute track before this record (two tracks if you include the demo on LPU13). LOL we barely get 6 minute tracks and we get a couple on this album.

Brad explained the album's sound very nicely. The use of the older fenders and telecasters makes me hope they can throw in some Linkin Park-ified pop punk into a song or two:trollface: And I'm guessing this album's "toolbox" is going to be "visceral" haha

    #VISCERAL

It's such a rarity to see a Brad interview that I've forgotten how well-spoken he is. Now some more interviews from Dave and Rob and I'll be satisfied haha :kappa:

Well..I'm pumped! They just need to call the album 'Visceral.' It's the most popular word to describe the album.

Oh god what have you done to me Brad. This quote alone has me more hyped for this record than any previous LP release. I've always listened to the early HT/pre-Meteora demos and wondered just what could have been if the band didn't have to cater to Warner Bros. so much. Makes sense why they'd lead with Guilty All the Same and how that's the albums "battle cry".

Ok i have lost it, please no more interviews i'm done for  hype is too much to think about especially saying that mike describes it almost as a prequel to hybrid theory. To even say anything about hybrid theory in regards to this albums just points out that this is really gonna stop this 'old LP' expression once and for all.

So that means no electronics at all? I really hope there are some electronics in the mix, that are a little more noticeable than in GATS.

I really like the idea that the band are trying to get the most out of a very limited set of instruments and effects gear. :)

I kind of know how you feel; I largely left rock/metal music behind when I grew out of my teens. I'm keeping an open mind, though

I think the electronics on this album will be more subdued than they've been on the last two albums. I'd personally like some really gritty, lo-fi sounds

''Sometimes that means, if a typical pop song is three minutes and 30 seconds long – or even some rock songs – then ours will be six minutes long.''

That's a... bold thing to say when 3 of your 5 albums don't have a song longer than 4 minutes.

But I liked the interview, definitely glad to hear he's pumped aswell.

On a note unrelated to the actual interview, I never actually read the "Rock Music Sucks" post or Mike's response to it until now. Both are really thought-provoking, and in the end I think Mike's response gives us a lot to be excited about: "Where’s the rock that’s about innovation, energy, aggression, catharsis, passion?"

    http://pigeonsandplanes.com/2013/09/rock-music-sucks-response-mike-shinoda/

If there's true feeling on this record, I think we'll have a winner. Say what you want about Limp Bizkit, but they did make a good point once upon a time: "We need something with substance, depth, something with soul, some edge, some passion, some power."

Well, Shinoda's been saying "bold" things this entire hype cycle

Every artist ever thinks that they're the only one making music that has "substance". :disgust: It's especially prevalent in the realm of rock
