Warning: This poem may cause controversy.

My inspiration for this poem is the United States president, George W Bush. I am opposed to the war in Iraq and how he deals with problems. Anyways, he's lied to the public, crippled the US economy, made the world a worse place, ravaged poor countries with bombs and authorized the war which killed thousands of innocent men, women and children. He's going to face the music sometime, and that's what this song is about. Enjoy.

(I think Step Up is a very widespread name and I think I could use a little more originality for the title. Help me out, guys. It's 5AM and I can barely think anymore.)

Tables Turned (originally named 'Step Up')

    [Verse]
    A man inherits power,
And thinks he is a god,
But little does he really know,
    His "minions" know facades.

And when a big disaster strikes,
    The power must survive.
    So he authorizes slayings,
    Of many sinless lives.

Without a stroke of guilt, he tries
    To justify his actions,
    But he's oblivious, we know
    Between the fact and fiction.

    So..
    [Chorus]
    Step up,
To the times you've fed us all those lies,
    Step up,
And show us you've got nothing left to hide,
    Step up,
To the deceptions that you've spread,
    Step up,
For polluting the thoughts inside our heads.

    [Verse]
You thought you were a saviour,
    You think you're a wound-healer,
The facts have surfaced, all they say,
    Are that you're a death-dealer.

The more you try, the more you hurt,
    The people you control,
    The enemy will reciprocate,
    Your power will be stole.

You're fighting just what you've become,
    A fear-inflicting beast,
    A walking hypocrite who thinks,
That war will bring you peace.

    The tables will eventually turn,
    Not likely in your favour,
Just keep in mind it all was based,
    Upon your own behaviour.

    So..
    [Chorus]
    Step up,
To the times you've fed us all those lies,
    Step up,
And show us you've got nothing left to hide,
    Step up,
To the deceptions that you've spread,
    Step up,
For polluting the thoughts inside our heads.

    [Bridge]
Blinded by endowment, deafened by the greed,
Such turmoil in the world is the last thing that we need.
Another soldier dead is the only thing we read,
For your better interest, this warning, you should heed.

    So..
    [Chorus]
    Step up,
To the times you've fed us all those lies,
    Step up,
And show us you've got nothing left to hide,
    Step up,
To the deceptions that you've spread,
    Step up,
For polluting the thoughts inside our heads.
    STEP UP!

Good song Mark. I like how you use a wide range of vocabulary and not just words that are used 24/7. I agree with With You, Tables Turned might be a good title. Keep the work up!! :)

I usually abhor political songs, but this was pretty good. Nice job, Mark.
