Music For Relief have linked up with Crowdrise in order to collect donations to respond to Typhoon Haiyan, which recently devestated the Phillipines. Incentives being offered for donations include an MFR bracelet for anyone who gives $25 or more, and the chance to win a pair of tickets and meet-and-greet passes for a private performance by Linkin Park, open to those whose donations reach $100. The show, scheduled to happen in Las Vegas in January, 2014, will be in support of MFR's "Power The World" initiative. This news follows the announcement of another Crowdrise-assisted fundraising effort late last month, a campaign to provide stoves in Nepal, which also offers donors a chance to attend this show; it is advertised as "a SUPER SECRET SHOW at an undisclosed location". It's really hartwarming to know that this band really is trying to make a positive impact in the world. If I had spare cash right now, I wouldn't even think twice about donating.
Just the other day my mother and sister were having a conversation about this disaster. The first thing I said was "LP will help them". I'm glad to see that my heroes don't disappoint. I will definitely try to donate.
This is why Linkin Park is my favorite band. They're such a genuine band and they do so much to help the world with Music for Relief and Power the World. I knew they would help out with this disaster. (maybe even right a single for it! )
If you're looking just to get into the draw to win tickets to this secret show, you get to pick between donating $565 to one campaign or $100 to another. If you win via the "Cookstoves For Kumrose" campaign, "hotel stay will be included" but "travel expenses will need to be covered by the winner"; if you win with your $100 donated to the Phillipines effort, "travel and stay is not included".
