The time has come to expand, and I have decided to branch out. I am launching a new website and could use the help of the members of this forum. As many of you already know, back in 2002 when I was only 16 I launched the LPA together with my friend Omar in the interest of becoming one of the biggest Linkin Park fansites around. Twelve years and over 700 million hits later we are one of the biggest Linkin Park sites in existence [if not the biggest] and have been featured in Kerrang! Magazine and Rolling Stone, as well as on the band member's official blogs and social media accounts. We are known all the way across the world (visited by over 100 different countries) and show no signs of stopping anytime soon. But now it's time for me to focus on my next venture: AltWire. About a year or so ago, I started debating the idea of broadening my horizons and covering other bands outside of Linkin Park. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I felt that for the longest time I was missing the mark by focusing on such a narrow field of view by covering Linkin Park but nothing else. I had always enjoyed covering Linkin Park and interacting with the fans, but I hated that we could never feature other bands on here so thus: AltWire was born. My goal from the get go is to strive towards making AltWire a well respected and highly visited online alternative music community just like LPA. While we definitely will be posting news concerning the alternative scene, I'd really like to build the community and make AltWire open to user submitted content. That means that in addition to our own content and the like...I'd love to feature articles and reviews written by our members and encourage our users to submit content for potential inclusion on the site. That's where you all come in. I want you to guys to not only make posts and fill up the forums with threads, but contribute to the reviews forum as well. The site's official launch is a little ways off, but in the meantime I'd love to have you all be a part of AltWire's early history and join the forums and start posting new threads, replying to topics and making the forums as busy as possible. Feel free to copy some of the threads from over here, just please...make AltWire your second home (first being LPA!) and make the website look busy before it's launch. A shoutbox will come soon, but for now I want to focus on the forums. Right now there's many forums on there with zero posts or threads. That's because the site isn't officially open. You are all the beta testers so to speak. Click And Join AltWire. Please post as much as you can without spamming of course! Postwhore away! Keep in mind I'm not leaving LPA. I'm just following my passions to cover more music.
I think that that list of genre-labelled sub-forums is a tiny bit intimidating but I'm sure I can get used to it.
Awesome! I'll definitely be joining the site. Hope all goes well in the future! Edit: My first name is always taken on any forum I've visited. And of course, one of the first accounts is a mod named Ryan. Thought I had a chance.
If you have any suggestions for condensing, without making things too broad or vague please let me know. User input is important .
OMG DEREK IS LEAVING LPA? HOW IS HE GONNA HANDLE BOTH LP AND SIDE PROJECTS? Okay Derek, I'll be checking it out, best of luck!!
Dammit. Gotta come up with a creative new password now. Also took the highly creative username: ''Filip''
You realize that you probably just gave away your password on LPA right? (assuming you do the same thing with your password everywhere) That wasn't exactly smart
It could've been a "commonly used word", though. ;P A lot broader than a username or an email address
