What do you believe is the meaning to this song? To me it sounds like someone who doesn't fit in into his family or his society. Maybe his family all follows a certain religion and a code of morals that he disagrees with or questions the older he gets. He see's some sort of evil or close-mindedness in their beliefs but they dub him the bad guy instead. I also see a bit of confusion. Like someone see's the world in a state of array and he's told he's partly to blame but he doesn't see how or doesn't want to support it anymore yet they oppress him into doing so. It really speaks to me in my own personal story but at the same time it can relate to so many things. I love how universal they can get with lyrics! But how do you guys interpret it?
I think it is about running away from personal problems and responsibilities. I was thinking about this song the other day when i was trying to figure out what direction i am taking in life and what are certain problems i have simply brushed off to the side because they are inconvientant. I beleive every person can relate to this and its source is ultimately an internal decision whether you stand and face your problems or runaway from them. For example i know a person who sits on the couch watching TV all day. He is running away from reality. Your mind is a loyal ally but it can also be a lying, deceitful, fell beast from hell at times. People will lie to themselves out of the motivation of maintaining comfort and the status quo. I am currently seeking the truth in my own life and trying to sort through the web of lies i have fabricated to keep myself static. But this is no life at all, i believe this song is about a person who wishes to push past their current concept of life and open their mind into a new realm of consciousness.
