I feel like Linkin Park. I've made so much material over the past few months and always had an idea of what my collection of songs was going to look like but I ended up changing the tracklist, re-writing songs, rerecording songs, and just being a perfectionist. As a few of you know, I released my first single "Shine On". It was the unmastered version but it was basically the track as a whole. You can check that out via soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/nicktrouble/, and I will be releasing the higher quality mastered version of it really soon. My new EP will be titled "Good Nightmares". Lyrically it touches on a variety of subjects whether it's life, religion, family, friends, or simply boasting and bragging. It will feature seven songs that I picked out of about twenty five fully recorded songs, and over forty ideas. The final tracklist is: 01. Introduction (Prod. GFyve) 2:23 02. Shine On (Prod. J Dilla) 2:59 03. Can't Tell Me Nothing (Prod. Kid Prince) 3:35 04. Bird On A Wire (Prod. Harry Fraud) 3:13 05. Fly High (Prod. The Watcherz) 4:23 06. Low-Fi (Prod. Nick Trouble) 1:10 07. Phoenix (Prod. EL-P) 5:07 --- Things to look out for next week: 30 Second Preview of your choice of song i'm trapped in a good nightmare
The intro track is now out! Suprise suprise! https://soundcloud.com/nicktrouble/intro-prod-by-gfyve More to come this week. I changed the "coming this week" section in the original post.
Yes I do. I am producing the sixth track of this EP, titled Lo-Fi. --- Update! I uploaded the cover art. Sorry the mastered version of "Shine On" hasn't been up, soundcloud's being a pain in the ass.
Here's a fun little thing to do. I wanted to put in side notes (Like Linkin Park did a few times) for songs on the EP. This time however, I am doing it early so you can get an idea of what the song is or how it came about ahead of time. INTRO: This track was written all at once. I wrote this line after line without re-writing, re-thinking, or re-adjusting the lyrics. It took one writing session, but it took me a handful of times to record it. It was originally titled "Underrated". SHINE ON: I always had a problem with religion. I feel as if a lot of people use it as an excuse to do something or a shining light on all of their troubles without really working at them. I re-wrote this a handful of times. The first four lines of the 2nd verse have been used (each in a different order) for four previous demos. The original title was "The Red". CAN'T TELL ME NOTHING: Despite the strong lyrical content of this EP, I had to get out that self-absorbing energy. The typical "I am the best" type of energy. I first recorded this like a response to a diss or battle rap, but re-wrote the lyrics where it's less responsive to a non-existent thought. The original title was "You Can't Tell Me Nothing". BIRD ON A WIRE: This beat is too smooth to not use. I am a huge fan of Harry Fraud's work, and I had to do a song with this beat whether it be one verse, or the two verses it turned out to be. I wrote this while watching a bird on a wire. I'm not joking either. FLY HIGH: This one is something that I am excited about. This is something special. This is the fastest track on the EP and I just let loose. Before I did "Phoenix", this was the closing track to the EP. The original title was "High". Interesting to note the Pro Tools file for this was named "Lysdexia". LO-FI: This song is a trainwreck. Originally I had a one minute freestyle to use as an interlude. I had this one track titled "Fields" and it was really distorted and dark. I decided to combine both of them into a jarring mess of an interlude. You can't feel comfortable listening to this. Every ten or fifteen seconds the mood flips. It's fucked up. Originally titled "Cypher Fields" / "Science Fiction" / "Game Over" PHOENIX: Space-like. /// pick a song that you haven't heard yet and I will release a 30 second preview of it tomorrow!!!
