My first EP is coming out on June 11th, 2013 for free via Soundcloud. I would like to use this thread to slowly leak information and snippets of tracks. Check back later for more details! tracks: I. Coming Home (prod. Alex Da Kid) II. Fire Burns III. Can't Tell Me Nothing (prod. Kid Prince) IV. Purple Pools (prod. T-Minus) V. Bird On A Wire (prod. Harry Fraud) VI. Hate Sleeping Alone (prod. 40) VII. Blessed (Self-Produced)
II. Fire Burns available now. Confidence overflowing in my conscience / bringing on colossal cheers like i'm in concert III. Can't Tell Me Nothing coming soon. Save face, you're dealing with Hannibal Lecter / Animal dissecter giving cannibals lectures
No offense, but it sounds like you're just standing and just reading the lyrics aloud, rather than getting down and dirty and throwing it in our faces. You should grind that shit out dude.
Did you track vox using a headset mic or something? If you aimed for that kind of gritty tone, you should have fully owned it, as Hawk is saying. Not saying anything about your lyricism here but even the worst lyrics can sound good if you deliver them right
I'm guessing from the titles that he's found instrumental MP3s - or maybe just full album mixes - and tracked over the top.
i put a filter on my voice, similar to Mike Shinoda's in I Have Not Begun. All of my other vocals are much clearer, and in fact grittier/more emotional, trust me. Also, "Blessed" is a huge song for me. It's a self-produced track that is extremely progressive. I don't want to spoil too much, but the song builds from classic piano/jazz hip-hop, with three different beats and it builds into a dubstep drop, but fades out with me singing over ambience. More bars: I. "Tell the world i'm coming home / no better yet i've been here / Came to reclaim my throne / Since it's always been here" V. "Like a bird on a wire I rest there and watch / As the city burns down, every house and block" VII. "I'm an anomaly / nobody on top of me / constantly on top of things / houses on boardwalk like monopoly / no chance of you stopping me / no chance of this flopping, see?"
