Okay, LITE is actually one of the few songs where I'm not crazy about the vocals (from either guy) but love the instrumental. Like, I way prefer the instrumental over the regular version. Anybody else feel this is one of the best instrumentals they have? It's crazy energetic, and it's awesome when Chester's little scream scats come on during the bridge.
I could be really nit-picky here and point out how the two sentences in the quote contradict each other. Since I'm a nice guy, I won't do that... Oh. Wait...
I think it's fair to say that during much of LP's career, the instrumentals are often stronger than the lyrics. I'm not sure that he actually does contradict himself there. I think he's referring to the instrumental of the breakdown when Chester's scream scats over where Joe scratches.
He said he wasn't crazy about the vocals. The screams Chester did was part of the vocals. Vocals =/= lyrical content.
I think because those screams were apart of the official instrumentation put out by the band, the scat screams in the breakdown are actually the instrumental.
They aren't scream scats they are sound effects very similar to the sound of Chester screaming "go". But Apop is right in the sense that he like the bridge of the instrumental.
That's what I mean, this would turn into a never ending cycle trying to determine whether it's technically a vocal or part of the instrumental. It's like we're both right but both wrong at the same time.
