Still a good buzz for the band, VMA's do get almost 15 million viewers per show.

Would be better if they perform Lost In the Echo so it could climb up on Itunes and pick up radioplay :pope:

I get what you're saying, but, this quote from one of my LPA friends on facebook about this sums up my feelings... "You know, its weird...but I can see myself giving the fewest of fucks if Linkin Park doesn't win some shitty meaningless award. MTV hasn't been relevant for more than 15 years."

Thanks Ignite for posting this! If I were you, I would've posted this as "Linkin Park are nominated for TWO VMAs this year for their latest music video BURN IT DOWN, which received CRITICAL ACCLAIM FROM LPA USERS, WITH SOME CALLING IT THE BEST LP VIDEO OF ALL TIME, from EVERYBODY'S FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO CHANNEL, MTV!!!!!"

Anyways, I still think Black Keys deserve to win, since "Lonely Boy" was an awesome video.

It's the VMA's...as in Video Music Awards.

Also, Coldplay for Best Rock Video.
Joe Hahn can have best special effects, doesn't really matter. :kappa:

The cool thing about the Best Visual Effects category is that it gets voted on by industry insiders as opposed to the general public. The public voting categories could indeed be called a "popularity contest", but getting a nomination in the Professional Categories (art direction, choreography, cinematography, editing, direction, and visual effects) is a pretty big honor. It basically means that out of the hundreds of videos that are produced each year, only 5 get nominated for each professional category by peers in the film, music, and design industries. This is the second year in a row that Ghost Town has been nominated for Best Visual Effects, so this is quite an honor. Last year we were nominated for Waiting for the End as well.

So for us, it does really matter. :)

Umm...NO! And MTV should stop pretending to be relevant anymore with their silly "award" shows.;)

MTV the channel started to die when streaming sites (mostly youtube) was introduced. Why wait for a MV to play on TV when you can watch it anytime?

The Awards Show IS the relevant one. It is THE 2nd most watched awards show just behind the Grammy's and most of the high profile artists today do attend it. Popularity contest or not, it does get your name out there.

Grammy's every February. But don't be mistaken, it's as biased as all the other awards shows.
