you should multi-quoting instead of creating double posts.

you should use that "Edit Post" feature instead of creating a new post.

Yup, it turned mainstream and now it's just another genre to sell out to.

    Just...

Elvis and The Beatles helped rock and roll turn mainstream. Now it's just another genre to sell out to.

Hint: You can sell out in ALL GENRES.

The stupidity running rampant around here, honestly...

And besides, you're probably only thinking of dubstep, in which you're really only looking at the movement in the US that is endearingly called brostep. Brostep focuses more on mids than on bass wobble. Here's some "non-mainstream" dubstep.

If we're talking about EDM in general, it has been around for decades and has never been considered "mainstream" in the sense that YOU'RE thinking of. The closest was Sandstorm by Darude, which I'm not actually sure you've heard since you would've been about 1 when it came out. Literally. A year after you were born.

And to end on a more energetic note, DRUM AND BASS.

Since you've mentioned Benga, is Magnetic Man also not 'brostep'? :"

Huge EDM fan. Don't really listen to much else as of late.

    Trance is my genre though.

I just rediscovered all the breakbeats on my hard drive. In light of this, I'd like to celebrate by giving you the best intro to a breakbeat album that I've ever heard.

Back when this came out, I used to wish Joe Hahn would do an intro like this to an LP album.

    Warning: Intensely epic.

I still don't think it gets much better than DJ Shadow and Aphex Twin.

I love dubstep! Well, not as much dubstep as much ''brostep'' but I still like it a lot. I don't like stuff like deadmau5, through.

Skrillex, Feed Me, Tek-One and Skream

Magnetic Man tends to have really strong roots to old dubstep, such as Benga for example. I don't consider him brostep because it follows more of the original dubstep.

There's an argument here about how Aphex Twin is more IDM than EDM, but I'm too tired to lay it out. There's also an argument that DJ Shadow spins and creates things more in line with hip-hop or trip-hop, but Endtroducing... is such a great album that I'll give you a pass for mentioning it.
