Has anybody seen/heard anything about a "making-of" DVD for this album? I didn't see it on the LP.com pre-order page unless I'm completely blind.
I'm disappointed by this actually. I loved watching the making of documentaries of the previous three albums, so not getting one this time around kind of sucks. Who knows, maybe they'll announce a special edition within the next few weeks.
To be honest, if the rest of the album is like Burn It Down then I really don't want a new making-of, it would be too painful to watch.
They've been filming stuff for promo videos and viddy clips, I doubt very much they're just going to scratch it altogether. Perhaps the CD will come with a code that allows access to an online stream of a "making of" video. Just spitballing. It would make sense to do it this way considering the rise of intangible, digital music formats.
True, it's just a bummer to break tradition. I have a making-of Meteora DVD, and Live in Texas where they play all HT/MET stuff. Then there's the making-of Minutes to Midnight DVD, and the Live in Milton Keynes concert DVD where they play HT/MET/MTM songs. And finally, making-of ATS DVD with the Live in Madrid DVD that I imported. I wanted another making-of DVD followed by a concert DVD. Oh well. Honestly I'm just thankful there's an album coming out soon.
One could hope, although the LPTVs for ATS were amazing and I hope they continue the 6-8 minute long videos, it would be nice to have a Making Of or new "Frat Party." Although, at the guys' age now, it'd be more like "AARP Party."
The Making of Meteora is still the best for me, I won't get tired of watching it And I also hope there's no more black and white LPTV this time.
Most likely, it'll be another documentary hopefully posted on youtube / hulu. Did you guys see all that footage in the living things video on youtube? They have to have a documentary with all that stuff showed on there for sure.
^ I've seen the trailer of Living Things good thing it was colored. and I think the rest of upcoming videos are all in colored.
i really wish they make a documentary for living things that would be awesome ... meh songs are enough for me
I take back my earlier comment, as much as i'd like a documentary it might be less pressure on the band, not having a guy recording their arguments and bitching sessions about Warner lol..
What haven't they done in these making-of documentaries yet, anyway? Would they have produced anything new that wasn't on the other DVD's already?
I don't know, the one for ATS kind of sucked. It was cool watching them stress and fight over the new direction, but the whole thing was edited like complete shit. They were really playing up the weird, LPTV effects they were making heavy use of at the time and it really distracted from the actual documentary. If they were just going to keep doing them that way, I'm not too terribly bothered about it not happening.
I disagree, I thought it was the best documentary yet, I agree though on those effects getting in the way, argh! They were mixed so loudly as well, so many wtf moments, and we had to hear that Mario Salvio speech again!!
I'm extremely disappointed that there is no making of DVD... It actually makes me not even want to buy the album. The thing I look forward to the most is the DVD's, it show's how the album was created, it shows the atmosphere in which the album was made, and I also just love watching my favorite band work on music. I hate when bands don't release making of's with albums. How can they include a DVD with Meteora, CC, MTM and ATS, and then just stop? That's really shitty to do to the fans.
