It seems like there was support in Random Thoughts for a hockey thread, so I'll make one. In this thread you can discuss upcoming games, your favorite players and teams, the history, just basically anything about Hockey.

Anyone see the World Juniors today? They started on Boxing Day and Canada have played twice. We won both times, 3-0 against Finland and 7-1 against Switzerland. The next game is against Ukraine on Monday. It's going to be a total blowout. But today was crazy, hockey's new "Lebron James", Sidney Crosby, scored a beautiful goal and I can tell he's going to be a superstar when he gets to the NHL.

Last night my fave team lost for the first time in regulation in 16 games. If Toronto had won last night, they would've broken the NHL record for most consecutive games with at least one point since the NHL introduced 1 point for an overtime loss. The game was terrible, me and my friend thought the Leafs had no heart and were getting beaten to the puck everywhere. It's sad to see a streak come to an end like that. Hehe.

Anyways, my fave NHL team is the Toronto Maple Leafs and my fave player is Doug Gilmour, who recently retired. Any other Leafs fans?

Edit: I got NHL 2004 for christmas, what an amazing game.

Our (Czech) juniors are in the same group as Canada, aren't they? We defeated Ukraine already :p It is said that we have very strong team this year so I hope we'll win!

I'm a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers. My favorite player is Jeremy Roenick. Last time I checked, I believe the Flyers are leading the Atlantic Division in standings for Eastern Conference.

My favorite team is the Colorado Avalanches (formerly Nordiques de Québec :D ) but I don't listen as much to hockey as I used to do...

Anyway the Canadian hockey players are the best at this sport :p !

I believe they are, the two teams just haven't played yet.

Toronto's leading the Eastern Conference, with Philly in second. :p

I don't like hockey very much but I played a couple of times at school. One time I didn't like a person who I was playing against so I attacked them with the stick. After that I wasn't allowed to play anymore.

Think about it... I could be the best player ever if it wasn't for that day...

I think Canadians are naturally addicted to hockey!! LOL

Yeah, I watched the Finland one, but missed the one vs. the Swiss. Will get to see the one tomorrow as I have the day off from work!

However, even though I am near T.O. I HATE THE MAPLE LEAFS. Sorry, but I have had the grudge forever. I can explain my reasons but it would take a long time. Fav teams: Montreal and Colorado. Yep, Roy was my Idol! I played goalie for the longest time, though I quit and moved on a couple of years ago. I still play pick-up hockey when I can. My friend has a pond we go on, but there's no ice now cuz of the freakin mild weather!

    Canada killed Ukraine 10-0. :)

I think the uS is our biggest threat, the Americans have one crazy talented team.

Killed is a weak word to describe such an humiliating loss  .

    Canada, U.S. : Some really good hockey :D .

Slaughtered? Demolished? Tell me something good to describe it with.

Did you see Crosby's goal from the Swiss game? Top corner from a bad angle. Insane goal!

Whoo. Leafs tied tonight. They never had the lead once, but battled back from 1-0, 2-1 and 4-2 deficits. Owen Nolan was the hero. Bad showing against a team like Florida though....they're like the Ukraine of the NHL.

No, unfortunately, I didn't have the occasion to watch a game, but I heard the progress of the Canada-Ukraine "game" on radio :D .
