    Partly the reason. ;)

But, is it a crime to like music that isn't "deep and profound" ? You don't have to be a fellow rapper to enjoy listening to mainstream rap. Mike never said that "50 Cent is the deepest lyricist ever!", he just said that he enjoyed his CD.

I agree, people give artists like 50 cent a lot of crap because of their popularity and sudden rise to fame.

Although it may seem easy, rap is a very difficult genre to breakthrough in. Several of Nelly's friends have put out solo albums, and none have yet to even get halfway platinum. Same goes for the likes of Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella, D12, and just as well G-Unit.

So please respect and understand that every artist is different, and though most rappers may not be as thought provoking as many "rock" bands, rap isn't really about being thought provoking. It's about banging your head to something you like. And isn't that what all music is about?

    Exceptions: Kenny G, Prince, Yanni

P.S. I don't even like 50 cent, but you don't see me trashing him.

Ahh...decent thought and discussion...the perfect poster child. haha, awesome post Omar!

Sometimes, when I listen to Linkin Park in the car, I forget about the lyrics and just let the intros of Faint and other similair songs get the best of my body and have me rock my head. If one get's too caught up in the seriousness of the music genre, they forget about the other half that is entertaining to audiences and provides a little humour, a little fun and alot of..."stunting"...lol. ga ga ga geeeeee uuuunit. ;)

I may not agree with a lot of Mike's choices, but I respect the fact that he has his own opinions...I don't want to say he has crappy taste in music just because he didn't pick the same albums that I would...he had his reasons for his choices and I hope he would stand by them as I would stand by mine.
