this is becoming ridiculous... at least the puzzles for ATS weren't this stressful and honestly getting boring. i give everyone props for trying to figure it out, but i dont have time for this and might as well wait till monday for the whole thing.

 

Some conclusions based on some Google Doc brainstorming with Rahat, rcm034 and Bliss:

A few notes:
08 will be a 0-string. Going on the prediction that the first digit is significant due to descending order (which I had predicted and was proven correct with Piece 05), there's really no choice as the pattern wouldn't allow for consecutive 5-???? ???? or 4.

We may have to entertain the possibility of the zero-strings not being significant in any way. In quite a few codes, spaces aren't ever actually written down (see: Morse code). The zeros might not mean spaces.

Unless a skifter is thrown into the deck with piece 16 being a zero string, the youtube video theory is no longer valid. That theory saw the random letter strings as the end of a youtube URL a la an unlisted video; we currently have too many letters for this to be true. Youtube URL strings are 11 letters long and our code is looking to be 12 in total. Again, this could possibly be validated if 11, 14, or 16 end up being zero strings. From there though, the theory is still at risk as youtube URLs also include numbers and dashes.

The fact that, after the removal of the first digit, the first digits of the two 4-number-strings match is merely redundant information. While yes it is a pattern, it's only so because the numbers would HAVE to be that way in order to get the specific number strings for letters. Piece 02 is different in a way that shows that the digit matching isn't important but rather a side-effect of wanting to get letters specifically.

If we go with the letter set that everyone seems to think is correct (LIVING), then we're looking at a string like this for piece 11:

Just taking the end numbers, we'd be looking at G or K. Subtracting the first digit of the string, we're looking at E or I. My reasoning here is that if we are indeed looking at words, E or I are the most likely candidates. We'd then have LIVING THE N__ (Living The Now? Living The New?) or LIVING THIN__ (or something similar).

I don't think we'll be done when we get all the letters, personally. I feel like there may be one additional step. I'm entertaining the thought that this is in fact an anagram. Whether or not the zero strings (spaces) are a part of the anagram isn't certain in my mind yet.

Of course, almost everything about would be proven wrong if the descending first digit is entirely coincidence. There's very little chance that this is true, but that little chance is enough for doubt.

And how do we give it a - "Here is the answer" is it the Terminal?

 

GUYS DON'T OVER THINK IT! i bet the "living things"(or living THONGS) has nothing to do with the album name.. I think it is a clue to the burn it down puzzle, stop with the elements crap its bull. This has nothing to do with the album its all about burn it down(at least i think so). lets just wait for a couple more puzzles and wait to see what stl22 has in mind. Chester said this album had to do with relationships more than anything else, i don't see why it would be Elements or living things. Its a clue.

 

Would "Living Thing" be a clue that we have to guess what living thing is that? I mean, it could be human, animal, blah blah.

 

I completely agree with u. For now, I think there's nothing else to do besides wait. Exhausted our sources and our theories, in my opinion.

Sorry, but I don't have anything in mind besides what I've already said. You all have just as good of a chance as me now. I'll keep trying, but I'm about out ofb

 

I want to believe that the puzzle answer has something to do with the song itself - either a line from the lyrics or something that will get us closer to it. But if the answer was "Living things" don't you think we'd have gotten a response from Mike about it yet? So either it's not the answer, or "LIVING THINGS" is just the first step to figuring out the true answer to the puzzle.

If it's not "LIVING THINGS", though, I can't really tell what it would be.

LIVING THE NOW?
LIVING THEN NO?
LIVING ATHENA?

Those are the only things I can come up with, and none of them have any better meaning than LIVING THINGS.

I feel like Linkin Park wouldn't tell us the album title this way, but rather this has something to do with unlocking snippets. Not that anything is official, and, as Derek stated earlier, the band would say if we were correct in our guessing, it might be a good idea to look into another route.

I was already going for number 5 to be "70016" since 12 hours ago, though I didn't post anything as I wasn't sure if I was correct. Moving forward with that, number 8 is CERTAINLY "00000 0000" and number 11 is VERY LIKELY going to be "20015".

EDIT: I can't comment on number 14 or 16 because number 15 is a combo breaker, which is complicating everything for me right now. Oh, and 8 can also be "20019" though I'll still go with 20015.
