now mike says that it's "a mix of old and new" phoenix says that there is going to be "aggressive vocals but no distorted guitar... when i think about it the old is full of distorted guitar so both of them are showing contradictory to what they are saying... please quote me if i am wrong.

so in the new album i think that there is going to be songs like black out and breaking the habit.

tell me what you think about my little confusion...

    Total acoustic album. :awesome:

Though I've been thinking that Linkin Park might try to do their version of Arcade Fire next (if MTM = U2, and ATS = Radiohead). Some people probably won't appreciate that comparison but it seems like that would be the next curveball they could throw at us. A more unplugged, less polished, lyrical album. The band was not shy about stating their love of The Suburbs.

It will open with ambiance, fade into acoustic, glitch into country, build into post-hardcore, drop into dubstep and so on.

I think this album is going to focus more on the lyrics than anything else. The instrumentals are going to sound like that of MTM, seeing as that is the most "traditional" sounding thus far. I don't want to think this, but I feel like there will be less rapping this time around, with the exception of songs like HHH with a less aggressive approach.

Has anyone maybe thought that the band is deliberately telling conflicting stories, because they don't want to put a label on their sound and instead let the album speak for itself? I wouldn't be surprised if this confusion and avoidance of giving a final release date etc, is deliberate.

That would be awesome promotion, just drinking coffee in the morning and when you suddenly load LP's homepage, you get link to iTunes to get the new album xD

There's gonna be distorted guitars you can easily dance polka to.

You have to remember that the 'old' linkin park isnt just distorted guitars. It's energy, agressive vocals.
