Linkin Park posted this on their Twitter: "Studio. Chaos and Noise. http://instagr.am/p/km0VV/" Loud noises in the studio? Seems like the heavy guitars are back! Here's an example of the guitar pedal sound: What do you think?
I am incredibly interested in seeing how the incorporate the old sound. I don't really want a complete regression (as none of us here at the LPA really do) but I do like the idea of incorporating it. To me it doesn't mean there's regression, intact I think the opposite. It kind of means they're afraid to go anywhere backwards or forward or both
To super high noise and sound makes it sound like NINs. Maybe LP and LP5 is being influenced by NINs. Could definitely see that happening
Like a month ago Mike releases a video of putting beats through effects pedals and he said even the Programmed sounds in songs like Numb and Crawling had went through pedals too. So this really doesn't prove there will be loud guitar, and besides both Brad and Dave have said in LPU chats that there won't be much guitar in the record.
Then why would they use the words CHAOS and NOISE in the same sentence and put up a picture of an extremly loud guitar pedal? C'mon now I know you don't want them going back to the old sound but this is evidence of the use of heavy guitars.
It could just be for one or two songs. I don't think we should jump to the conclusion that the entire album is going to use heavy and loud guitars.
I actually agree. Of course Linkin Park are not going back to their original sound. I think they are just giving us a treat like they have done with Given Up, No More Sorrow, Blackout, Wretches & Kings, etc.
like I said before, I think the old sound is going to be maybe incorporated but I don't think it will play more than a minor role
I thought that ATS was influenced by NIN... Songs like Robot Boy and The Catalyst have NIN written all over them
One intro and one interlude or short instrumental is okay but bunch of cricket sounds and speeches is a bit too much...
Hating on Empty Spaces? YOU GO TOO FAR, FRIEND. Also, I've never seen NIN appreviated as NINs before. The possibilities of any of the instruments used by LP going through these pedals is intriguing.
I'd rather have a bunch of interludes than to have them be part of a song. If empty spaces wasn't it's own track, and was the intro to WTCFM, the intro for that song would be ridiculous just for that one song. Same with Wisdom, Justice and Love. That interlude sounds great in front of Iridescent, but it would be too long of an intro for that one song. All of the interludes on ATS have their place on the album. It wasn't a conventional album that people are used to. It was more than just a CD with songs on it. It told a story. It was meant to be played from front to back. The short tracks and interludes were made that way so it would be conveinient to skip to and listen to a certain song that you would want to hear if you didn't want the full experience. The interludes helped tell the story and the idea that ATS was trying to convey. I, for one, liked them. It made the album feel like it had more substance.
