http://www.noelgallagher.com/ The choir and strings from the new song "Everybody's On The Run" from his upcoming solo album was put up on his website a few hours ago. It sounds pretty epic! As a huge Oasis fan, and someone who is far more fond of Noel than Liam, I can't wait! Edit: There's a live, non-orchestra version of the song on YouTube: Excited to hear the studio version with lyrics and guitar!
I have high hopes for this. Beady Eye was pretty disappointing TBH and I've always felt Noel was the better songwriter.
Flat out. You name a great Oasis song, Noel wrote it. "Wonderwall", "Champagne Supernova", "Live Forever", "Where Did It All Go Wrong", "D'You Know What I Mean?", "Sad Song", "Stop Crying Your Heart Out".... the list goes on and on. Noel is one hell of a ballad writer. Those types of songs tend to be my favourites from the Oasis catalog.
I turned on a radio station a few weeks ago and The Roller by Beady Eye was on and it instantly reminded me of Instant Karma by John Lennon. I understand the Beatles were their inspiration, but at least try to do something original. Liam is a talented guy - Champagne Supernova and Live Forever are 2 of my all time favorite songs of any band, but he is nothing without Noel. Being a good vocalist only gets you so far with shitty lyrics and recycled instrumentation.
Take it a step further: Liam is OBSESSED with John Lennon. It's very prevalent in lots of his solo work.
Im pretty excited for Noel`s Solo Efforts. The First Video will be Published Monday, 8:20 AM London Time. The Song is called "The Death of you and Me". Can`t Wait. Beady Eye are Okay, but Noel is like God to me
The Death of You and Me (single) is out: http://www.noelgallagher.com/ At first listen I didn't know what to think, but it's after of growing on me. The trumpet part takes a bit of stomaching.
In my opinion, this song is better than 90% of Liam's album, which gives me high hopes because the bootleg versions of some of the songs on Noel's album are among the best songs I've heard from both their careers. Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvx27VoEKhk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T3cZBMJCQg&feature=related
holy shit, what a great band. yes, yes, I know he's from Oasis, but I am fully prepared to admit I couldn't identify one Oasis song other than Wonderwall on my own. Anyway, the new Noel Gallagher lead project is coming out October 17th(UK date?) and so far sounds amazing. Here are 3 of the songs off of the album and a b-side from one of the singles. Thinking this could be one of the best albums of 2011. My favorite is definitely AKA... What A Life! by far. The Death Of You And Me: If I Had A Gun...: AKA... What A Life!: The Good Rebel (B-Side):
The album tracks sound absolutely fantastic, this has potential to be AOTY for me. The only track on Liam's album that could stand by these would be The Beat Goes On, but if old demos are any indication, Noel's the clear winner here.
I'm going to merge this with the thread I made a few months ago and make this the official thread. Really like what I'm hearing thus far. "AKA... What A Life" has a really good tempo to it. Can't wait to hear "Everybody's On The Run".
Great live performance of "If I Had A Gun": This song has really grown on me. Love the lyrics.
Seriously though, Todd. New b-side released: If this wasn't good enough to make it onto the actual CD, my expectations just went up. What a song. It's like Noel + City & Colour.
The tracks I've heard so far are, to me, better than what he did in Oasis. I'm really enjoying this material.
I really like his voice personally. If I were to make a list of my favourite Oasis songs, a lot of them would probably be the ones that he sang lead vocals on instead of Liam. Not that calling him a better singer than Liam is saying a lot, haha.
