Although somewhat old news (as it originally rumored via the show's Wikipedia Article well over a year ago), it appears that it can now be confirmed that a very early version of "Forgotten" was used in the television series The Crow: Stairway To Heaven. Recorded before Chester was in the band, and featuring a different performance from Mike, this version is different than the version that made it's way onto the Xero Demo Tape in 1997. You can hear the alternate version below at about 16:18 in: For those who are unaware, The Crow: Stairway To Heaven was a Canadian television show that ran from September 25, 1998 to May 22, 1999 lasting only 22 episodes, before being cancelled in 1999. It featured appearances from a young Corey Feldman as well as many other actors/actresses of the time. The entire show can now be found on HULU. Source: Youtube via LPL member J Garcia
TC: STH wasn't a largely syndicated show. It was broadcast in Canada and was kinda low budget. It's not at all impossible for someone in the band to have known the producer/editor and slipped him a tape/CD-R (since CD burning was just starting at that time) and begged them to sneak their music into an episode. Happens a lot. It's how some unknown acts get noticed. What's even more amazing is that a soundtrack CD was made for the cast and crew. Meaning that assuming of course, that track was on there...that this unreleased demo is floating around somewhere.
Seeing as I don't believe Pictureboard was on the show, I'd be willing to bet no . Of course if someone wants to go through all 22 episodes and check, be my guest! I'm certainly not going to do so on my shitty web connection .
LPL member J Garcia is the one who should get the credit. In any case, it is interesting because it sounds different than the Rhinstone that we've all heard.
In the interests of being fair I updated the credit, as it appears J Garcia posted it yesterday. I'd rather not have flame wars start over a 30 second clip haha.
i found this track with that same "you know what a fuse is" stuff: http://youtu.be/02XpRbr3UBM anybody know what's this stuff, why they used in Xero & Yonas too?
A few years ago someone questioned Mike in an LPU chat about the rumored "Xero Show Setlist", and he said back then that they only made a demo tape as Xero and nothing else. However; considering the confirmed existence of Pictureboard it's clear they made other songs with Wakefield/Chester before the switch was done to the name Hybrid Theory. Then, if you keep in mind that Chester professionally recorded his audition tape, and that those songs exist somewhere...and yeah, there's a LOT of unreleased stuff .
Saw this on LPL yesterday. its a brilliant find! I sure hope Mike sees this, and digs through his old stuff and looks on his old PC for these gems. Am I asking for too much?
