It seems as though Mike has done everything a musician can possibly do on an album throughout his career. First he rapped, then he started playing more guitar, then he began singing and producing. And he's always been able to make interesting sounds/distortions that appear in a lot of LP's songs. So for LP's next album, what do you want to see from Mike? Do you want him to focus on one thing or do you want him to have a more balanced approach like he did on ATS? Discco.
Balanced approach for me. However, I'd like to have more rapping in the next album. But it all matters on the songs they choose in the end.
Would like to definitely have more of a Fort Minor styled approach on future records. Take that however you wish.
He can do whatever he wants. Though, I didn't know he could sing like he could in the new LPU video. What other talents has he not revealed to us? I bet he could rap a lot faster than he is. He did say he rather have people understand his lyrics than for them to be lost in speed, but I still wonder about that too.
I think his rapping lyrically on ATS was average at best. It's not even the subject matter either. It's just the way he gets his message across that sometimes just doesn't sound good. Wretches and Kings is an example of that imo. But regardless I want him to rap more. Though if he's going to rap like a 6th grader then forget it, lol.
I'm with the Infamous one. I want some more of that Fort Minor energy put into the next record on his part at least, but with less shit talking.
Moar Rapz leik tis, pls: "The microphone molester Machete undresser Stupid dope fresh-type shit resurrector Top gun, miramar, best-of-the-bester The leave an emcee peace-in-rester..." srsly sirius.
Variety is the spice of life. Therefore, I go with the balanced approach. And honestly, considering what a wide array of styles and genres LP does cover across a typical album, I don't think they can afford to do anything less.
I found it really interesting when Mike said that he did more of the heavy guitar sounds in the ATS recording period than Brad. Hopefully he keeps the guitar playing up. His solo on Burning in the Skies may sound generic to some but for some reason I find it incredible.
notsureifserious. Anyway, Reading My Eyes, the live version, is one of my favourite Mike raps and i would love for him to do some more like that. If i could choose i would want more rapping on the new album but i still want Mike to sing also.
I don't think Hybrid was being serious. And rightfully so. RME is garbage. Now, if Mike can have that flow with some meaningful lyrics (or some that at least make sense), then we'll talk.
