Bitmap to JPEG

I know this might sound like a bit of a stupid question but is there anyway to re-write a bitmap image as a JPEG image? I have this picture that i really want to use as my avatar but i can't because it's a bitmap. My mate said all i had to do was put it into paint and then change it to JPEG when i saved it but it will only re-write it as a different bitmap image.

Any response will be greatly appreciated because i really have no i dea about this kind of stuff. Thanks

 

yes, open it in any image program, even paint of image viewer, dont edit it, go to file>save as and change the file type

It's best not to use paint though to convert to .JPEG. because it really does mess up to quality.

Your best bet is to use photoshop or something, which can actually control the quality as you save to that filetype.

Yeah, all I have is paint. I always have to conver to jpeg to upload pictures. If there is anytype of writing on the picture, the quality changes dramatically.

Why not get PaintShopPro 4? It's free and easier to use for new users.

 

Try Image Converter .EXE

You can convert up to 25 files before you come and bug me for the serial

 

Or search for it on Kazaa.
