I just had this idea just now, not sure whether it will be good or not but I'll give it a try anyway. Pick any Linkin Park songs and tell us what the music video would be like if you were to write/direct it. As I am on my iPod I will post mine later.
Wretches & Kings. It would be like Robot Unicorn attack vs. Papercut music video, with some kind of supernatural perceptual moral at the end. And lots of wizards, like the ones from the Dreamweaver's world in the originial Spyro the Dragon.
What the . . . . ? I Have Not Begun. I would like it to be kinda like Serj Tankian's video for Sky Is Over or Beastie Boys' Intergalactic without the giant robot fighting. Just the band walking the streets of LA like a boss with Mike rapping throughout the video.
Robot Boy. It would be like a dark place with a lot of screens, old TVs, some ones only with static images, and others with videos of faces of random people and the band members singing the lyrics. And every of them with some kind of distortion like everyone is 'fused' to a machine or had machine parts in their faces. And at the end each screen could show a piece of a single image of the earth. Ok, I've done a weird brainstorming.
I've always thought about this for 'Valentine's Day' from MTM. I always thought it'd be cool to see the band in a big field full of snow, with snow coming down harsh, with nobody around and nothing but snow in the distance. I believe the lyrics about how Chester spent his first valentine's day alone in ten years without Sam in 2005 but I could be wrong, also being away from Draven. That's why I thought it'd be cool to see Chester alone with the band in the background, making a really emotional but simple video.
In Pieces: Band playing in an almost empty house. Boxes laying all around. Split screen for every member, and each member's screen appears when their part is heard. And after the solo whole band is revealed playing in a big room with Chester faced to a large window (sun sets on the horizon, sun rays are visible in the room). After the last chorus when Chester says "Don't lie" camera shows a girl walking outside to a cab (means that she's leaving him).
Hands Held High: Mine would be Mike standing in front of a "wall" of televisions each showing different old political videos of war and speeches and such. Mike would be singing as they played in the background. Every now and then political images and soldiers fighting at war flash up on the screen with some light distortion applied to them. When the line, "with hands held high into a sky so blue as the ocean opens up to swallow you," is repeated the screens behind Mike would all change into people singing the line.
When They Come for Me. The band will play in a theater with little gnomes dancing around and lip syncing the chorus.
Robot Boy Every time I hear this song, I think of an animated video, with a little robot walking the earth. Basically, there is no one left on earth but that robot. Burning In The Skies I always imagined this taking place in an abandoned train yard at night, with fire and smoke everywhere. It would look like a post-apocalyptic world, with the band dressed in bum-like clothes, playing crappy and broken instruments.
When They Come For Me I've always envisioned this song starting out with the band members in a restricted area in the middle of a jungle in South America. They are caught trying to steal something like information or something that they put in a box and they have to run from the military through the jungle. The band runs to find a group of rebels harvesting drugs. They are shortly followed by the military causing the rebel drug lords to turn on the band. Alot of action and explosions here as the rebels and military fight to capture/kill the band. All of the band members escape by running through the jungle and they find a tribe. They hang out with the tribe during the bridge of the song. The tribe figures out what they stole and are after them too. Right as the song picks up. During the 'pre outro' all three factions are now united chasing after the band. During the outro, the band gains distance and jumps over a waterfall. They then climb into a boat and book it as the factions stop at the top of the waterfall shooting at the band. As they are in the boat, they put the box that held the treasure on the boat. They open up the box they stole only to uncover that it isn't there. The video ends with one of the members (pick one) smiling and pulling the treasure out of his shirt pocket, slamming it on the table in the boat. Everyone looks at him in disbelief and smiles.
