MtM and ATS are pretty much all I listen to of LP's 4 albums. I think I'm actually going to have to delete HT and Meteora (which is about 4 songs on my ipod now lol) soon.
I seem to appreciate Minutes To Midnight more than I do Meteora and Hybrid Theory. While yes it was a transitional record just to help Linkin Park find their identity, it is also one of my favorite records from them, aside from A Thousand Suns. It broke away from their nu-metal sound, which I think a lot of us, if not all of us, can agree is pretty washed up by now, and to be quite honest, I would rather Linkin Park stay out of the same musical universe from the likes of Limp Bizkit and Korn. As far as songs go, my favorites would be the awfully underrated In Between, there's an apologetic tone to the song that really attracts me to it, and Hands Held High, which actually has a deeper meaning to it other than their other songs.
I lol'd at this. WTF are you talking about? The complete opposite, my friend. Maybe you were being sarcastic, I'm not sure And I completely agree with Agent O.
One of my favorite LP albums after ATS. I felt this album was my jump from my teenage angst into a more mature awareness of the world around me. Favorite songs: Shadow of The Day, Hands Held High, In Between, Given Up, and The Little Things Give You Away.
i agree with lots of the comments above, its weird, i think of it like the odd one out, it was way more of a transition then a solid album on its own, dont get me wrong, i love every song from it, and it is an album that was released, but i think its their most experimental album, although a thousand suns is a bigger change from hybrid theory/meteora than minutes to midnight was, it was the biggest leap of faith, it kind of secured them to make an album like a thousand suns because then they knew that they had loyal, good fans that knew what good music was and were able to accept a change and more whole music.
MTM was not only my birthday gift; in fact it was also a huge part of my saving grace. I mean, Hybrid Theory and Meteora are pretty amazing to let angst go, but MTM was there to help me cry, calm down, sing softly, and try to move on when I had depression (it also was my way of relieving stress instead of cutting or breaking my straight edge oath like many other depression cases I read or knew about, so I'm still clean). This was also when I knew LP was a band of many genres now, instead of the stereotypical nu-metal that died. Minutes to Midnight WAS my favorite LP album and my favorite album of all-time until ATS came out. Plus, Leave Out All The Rest is my favorite song off the whole album and in my Top 5.
Power Rankings: BIO TLTGYA LOATR Hands Held High Valentines Day Shadow of the Day In Pieces In Between What I've Done ------------------<---Everything above this line are high quality songs. Though I change my mind about What I've Done a lot. Given Up (lyrics are blah. Though it's not bad. I enjoyed it when I heard it live) No More Sorrow (Too damn generic)
Honers goes to Bleed it Out (mainly because whenever I hear it makes me stop and wanna dance to it) and Leave Out All The Rest (it's my ringtone at the moment). Basically other than that, I don't see what there is to appreciate to it. To a blind eye, it might as well be their B-Side album.
The Little Things Give You Away makes up for some of the other poor songs on the album. That was their best song at the time.
For me, What I've Done would be a little below that line, followed by No More Sorrow and Given Up way down below. However, this is the only album where I can't actually rank my favorite songs. They're all really good and my favorites are always changing. However, at the moment my favorites are Hands Held High, In Between, and Shadow of the Day.
In my opinion, Minutes to Midnight = Amazing songs, bad album. Why? Because when I listen to just the songs, i find them really great and touching. I love the lyrics (other than given up) more than any other album including A Thousand Suns. However, I dont like it as a whole album because it gets too boring after a while.
This month I listen M2M to sleep every night, when it came out in 2007 i didn't like that much. M2M seems to be a bridge connecting Hybrid Theory,Meteora and A Thousand Suns. M2M shows the depth--not only focusing the inside but also the world and ATS push it to be more mature. However considering the whole , i think ATS should be the best album.
I just don't really like MtM as an album... I love a few select songs, What I've Done (in contrary to most), LOATR, SOTD, HHH. On other albums, I don't really have a song I actually dislike... on MtM I actually HATE In Between and NMS and I dislike In Pieces. I used to think BIO was extremely annoying too but that one has grown on me.
