If this thread should rather be posted on another forum or thread then I completely understand, I am still new to these forums and how everything operates here, but I felt a thread would get my point across better than rather have it lost on some post somewhere.

For everyone bashing the new BITS video, along with The Catalyst and WFTE, I think possibly we all could be missing a very important factor throughout these videos. Hear me out.

Remember Mike Shinoda's adiment view point to make ATS, an ALBUM, a series of connected songs that become a sort of cinematic piece of art, that has connections and ties with each and every song on the album, interlude or not, everything has relevance. Stated that there is not enough actual "substance" and "thought" left in modern music.

I feel that there is an obvious though process and sequence panning out here with the ATS music videos that mabye we potentially arent taking the time and patience to see, a similliar mindset that some fans are having when it even comes to the ATS album itself.

The Catalyst pays homage to a post-apocalyptic world following the destruction of (most likely) an atomic bomb, people revolting and adapting to this new world. The video has sequences that all three ATS videos share in common, the slow-motion sequences, almost tieing them together when you watch them in sequence. The Catalyst, is almost, the "current". and WFTE and BITS explain the events leading up to the Catalyst, good point no?

WFTE is the sort of spiritual take, mixed with a sort of futuristic element, showing the vunerability of mankind (showing the insides of humans0 as well as paying reference to different social and political symbolism of life and death (skulls and birds feathers etc). The samurai girl aswell. Theres an asian chick in BTS lol.

Now we get to BITS, which in my opinion, EXPLAINS WFTE more indepth and sort of gives it a timeline and a means to why it exists and instigates more relevance into it, lets take the fact that, if we are right, BITS, explains the events leading up to the catalyst, when the bomb goes off, we are exposed to familliar imagery to WFTE, and as the video progresses, we see homage to The Catalyst and WFTE.

All these videos in one way or another resemble each other and if played in sequence, would actually be a bit of a visual feast when all put together. playing some relevance and explaining a sort of story. What do you all think?

I posted this on the News thread (page 5 bottom) but it was left into oblivion, so I might as well re-post my thoughts on the 3 ATS videos here.

The 3 music videos definitely have some threads connecting each other, LP in BITS video looks as if they are extracts from WFTE video.
If the 3 vids are to be put in a sequence, I think it should be Burning In The Skies -> Waiting For The End -> The Catalyst
The band members in all 3 videos appears as if they are souls living outside of the world, gazing upon people, humanity.
One thing to note is that this sequence is actually the sequence on the record.

In BITS, they sing of regrets, reflections, their loss etc. *The end drawing near
'I'm swimming in the smoke / of bridges I have burned. So don't apologize / I'm losing what I don't deserve'
'And in the end we were made to be apart. Like separate chambers of the human heart'

In WFTE, they sing about how they feel about this coming end. *the end coming towards us
'Waiting for the end to come, wish I had the strength to stand...All I wanna do is trade this life for something new...The hardest part of ending is starting again'

In TC, they speak to God, looking for saviors to humanity. *Aftermath
'God bless us every one We're a broken people living under loaded gun'
'God save us every one Will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns'
'Lift me up. Let me go'

Other interesting facts I found about the lyrics:
BITS 'I used the deadwood to make the fire rise' ---------- WFTE 'What was left when that fire was gone'
BITS 'The blood of innocence burning in the skies' --------- TC 'Where oceans bleed into the sky'
BITS 'And in the end we were made to be apart' ----------------- WFTE 'Picking up the pieces now where to begin'
BITS 'I'm losing what I don't deserve' ------------------ WFTE 'Holding on to what I haven't got'

One more thing, at the end of BITS video, the spilling water slowed down to still, which reminds me of the 'still, self-rotating' WFTE video.

Dude! That post is awesome, the take you had on the lyrics is brilliant. I just saw this almost "Pattern" unfolding. I think it would be utterly naive and irresponsible as Linkin Park fans to not see what the band is intending, if it is to be a consistency of a story unfolding. ATS fits into a theme, why wouldnt they not use the music videos to visually try potray the consistent theme of the album? It just makes sense, if they would do it for the album and want people to enjoy the actual entity of an album rather than a collection of songs, surely they would want the same for their videos?

Thanks a lot! I was just mumbling the lyrics and found they might have something in common.
If my point of view is correct, It'll be hard to imagine that the guys actually made this 'concept album' by accident (as Chester said in interviews)

I agree that all the videos so far are meant to connect to eachother on purpose. Good observations all. Welcome to the LPA Sparrow :).

I thought they lyrics thing was evident from the get-go. All the interludes that aren't Radiance and Empty Spaces are direct lyrics from the other songs and sprinkling in references from the other songs was the next logical step from the whole "It's not an album it's one 45 minute song" thing. That the songs have central themes running through them isn't an Easter egg, it was a selling point of the album.

Not the videos though. The videos just blow. Maybe the last ATS video will make an attempt to string them together in a Shyamalan-like "WHAT A TWIST" moment, but I don't think the band thought about the whole 'bigger picture' aspect after the actual album was finished.

So, one day we will be able to put all of the videos together and they will tell a story. Kinda like a film.

None of the deep metaphors, messages etc. matter to me if the final product fails to translate the energy of the song.

In "The Radiance," the speech from J. Robert Oppenheimer was still relevent to the album. I know you werent disputing that, however, I just wanted to "put some meat" on this point. When Oppenheimer recalled the Bahgavad Gita during his speech, some of what didn't make it on the album laid the ground work feeling and the title of the album. For example: "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one... Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

"Empty Spaces," I feel, was the pre-intro that was cut from "When They Come For Me" and I think the band did that because of the fact that there are alot of what I'm gonna call "war samples" in the beginning of songs. I think that in the possibility "When They Come For Me" would be released as a single, the band didnt want the war sample in the beginning of the track to have it be another song like that. I think they wanted to keep it on the album because the outro to "When They Come For Me" is a direct reflection on "Empty Spaces." I hope that makes sense to others. I just wanted to throw that out there.
