I generally don't give a shit about Oscars, but I really hope Trent wins it, I'm sure it'll mean a lot to him.
These are my picks for who SHOULD win (skipping those I have no strong opinion on) Actress in a Leading Role: Natalie Portman in “Black Swan” Actress in a Supporting Role: Hailee Steinfeld in “True Grit” Animated Feature Film: “Toy Story 3” Lee Unkrich Art Direction: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1” Cinematography: “Inception” Costume Design: “Alice in Wonderland” Directing: “Black Swan” Darren Aronofsky Documentary (Feature): “Inside Job” Film Editing: “Black Swan” Music (Original Score): “Inception” Hans Zimmer Music (Original Song): “We Belong Together” from “Toy Story 3" Best Picture: “Toy Story 3” Short Film (Animated): “Day & Night” Teddy Newton Visual Effects: “Inception” Writing (Adapted Screenplay): “Toy Story 3”
The Oscars suck as much as The Grammys. I don't see why Trent would care that much about it. Maybe just because it's something he's new at. If Black Swan wins best picture and if Inception doesn't win Original Screenplay, I'm going to question what the world is coming to.
I was kind of hoping Scott Pilgrim would get nominated for one of the technical awards, as unlikely as it probably would have been. If anything sweeps the board this year I guess I hope it's Black Swan. Still haven't seen enough of the ones that have been nominated for the big awards for me to form that much of an informed opinion, though. The Fighter, The Town and The King's Speech are top of my list.
