I side with O'Reilly (oh God) on the fact that it's a statement of belief and that the board's statement is aggressive and kind of insulting, but disproving science is kind of ridiculous too. Both sides are wrong in some way.
You're entitled to have whatever personal beliefs you like. You just don't say that a) something that is actually pretty well-grounded in science isn't and that b) because it isn't (even though it is) something else that isn't must be true instead. I'm not necessarily siding with the other guy, but O'Reilly shot himself in the foot there.
oh well....another proof, that O`Reilly is pretty fucking stupid. what is it with you guys in America, that Scumbags like him are getting paid to tell such crap on National Television? I mean no offense to anyone who believes, but in Germany, such a Person on TV would be impossible. Yes, there is a Channel called "bible-tv", but only on Pay-TV. I recently saw a very good Satire of O`Reilly in a magazine, i try to scan it and upload it then, it pretty much nails his "retardness" to the point (Disclaimer: With the word "retard", I dont want to insult anyone who knows handicapped people or so, or is related to one, just pointing a Finger at a very Stupid person, in this case O`Reilly)
The atheist should have nailed him on that. Either way, it seems silly to say it is not an insult. He is not saying it with the GOAL of being insulting, but you are telling people the core foundation of their life is a scam they were suckered into. One that is simply factually inaccurate. And I am going to say it is so obvious it is factually inaccurate that anyone who looks at the crazy hypothesis of the invisible man in the sky and thinks it is even plausible is experiencing a critical error in their reasoning abilities. I do also think this is not just a matter of belief, but fact. I believe Linkin Park is an awesome band. This is just opinion as it doesn't posit anything about reality, it is a subjective matter. God existing or not existing however is not subjective, it is an objective statement about the nature of reality.
Here's a crazy idea for ol' Papa Bear: If there is a God, why couldn't he have created the moon, which in turn, causes the tides? ZING! Oh, or better yet...what if God...IS THE MOON?!?! Yes, God is a big cheese head floating around in space...wait a minute...he's a Packers fan?! NO WONDER HE HATES ME SO MUCH.
Does anyone else watch Fox News for more than, say, 15 hours a day? Because I do. I caught O'Reilly's show last night. I usually hate the guy, but last night he was making more sense than usual. Ripping into Glenn Beck, mocking his guests... it was great. I especially loved the editorial piece about celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and George Clooney helping Bin Laden because they're campaigning for a Christian government in Darfur. Or something. I have to smoke weed while I watch Fox News, to keep from ripping my fucking hair out.
