I think someone here pointed this out earlier around the album's release, but I had to post this just in case. LP: "Oh, when they come for me...come for me...I'll be gone..." Beatles: "Na, na na NA NA NA...NA NA NA...Hey Jude..." Now this is quite interesting to me and I had to ask: What do you think of this? Do you think LP gave a clever but rousing tribute to The Beatles or was this totally unoriginal of them? Or was it just coincidence? Personally, I thought it absolutely was awesome.
She's right. The emphasized NAs happen 4 times. Although the melody does bear a little resemblance, it's nothing to question.
Absolutely no connection, I'm sorry. If they wanted to pay tribute to the Beatles, they probably would've been more explicit anyway.
I'm going to point out that for once, I'm not the person being harsh. I said that there IS a small resemblance, but that's it.
Agreed. There's absolutely no appropriate reason for some of the nasty comments I've been reading in this thread. Just because you might find a concept someone proposed far fetched, that does not give you an excuse to treat the person like they're an idiot. Show some respect, and seriously trav21...stop being a smartass to everyone you come across on these boards. You know exactly what you're doing by acting the way you are, and your reply really didn't contribute anything to this thread. Please stop because your act is getting old very quick.
I'm pretty sure I was a smartass of many in this thread. At least the OP has a chance to take my post as a compliment compared to the "No. LMAO" posts. So my post actually has more value than those other ones, but still almost no value. And seriously OP, just because there are a similar number of syllables and a semi-similar melody doesn't mean it's intentional. It's impossible to make music sound 100% original anymore. The Beatles had that luxury, though.

Give us some credit. I'm pretty sure most people know that "cool story bro" and all its variations generally aren't compliments.
I didn't think trav's "cool story bro" reply was as nearly as harsh as some of the other replies in this thread. On the topic, I agree with the majority of the posters with that I don't think they have no connection whatsoever. As great as the two bands are in their way, I really cannot recall LP having being influenced from The Beatles to make it a personal or public tribute. If they are influenced by them, kudos to them.
OK, I'm sorry if I came off as someone very naive to you guys here. I was just wondering and got caught up in the whole thing. I remembered a few days ago that there are MANY songs using Beatles references, melodies, and harmonies too. It was just that hearing WTCFM sound SORTA like Hey Jude at the climax really set off something in my head that got me excited. Again, I'm sorry.
