In my opinion, Linkin Park's best album closer was The Messenger. It's actually my favorite song they have ever made. I love how it comes in after The Catalyst and sums up many aspects of life. It makes me imagine a lonely man singing in the middle of what's left of his world. Very powerful, emotional, yet simplistic.
So that's: Pushing Me Away vs. Krwlng vs. Numb vs. The Little Things Give You Away vs. The Messenger For me it's between TLTGYA and The Messenger. I guess I'd say TLTGYA because....it's longer? Haha Idk they're not really comparable.
I think TLTGYA stands up better as a song in and of itself. So does Pushing Me Away, for that matter. The less I say about Numb the better haha.
TLTGYA. It packs a punch and finishes off the album perfectly. The Messenger just finishes off the album perfectly. Doesn't really have that punch that TLTGYA has.
Definitely The Little Things Give You Away. Makes it even better that it's one of my all-time favorite LP songs ever. I felt so blown away and at the same time just so sucked into the sound and lyrics (and Phoenix singing? ). The Messenger's getting there for me. Pushing Me Away is a great song, just an eh closer. Numb is the most commercialized ending to an album ever xD no matter how much I like Numb, it's a bad ending now that I think about it. But definitely TLTGYA is my favorite closer, with The Messenger just ALMOST there, but way above the other 3 albums for me.
Numb i think is, and it is also my second favorite LP song next to Iridescent. It would be the Catalyst if they ended ATS with it
I don't think Phoenix sings on the studio version of the song. I can't really decide between "The Little Things" and "KRWLNG". :x
Yeah, gonna have to go with The Little Things Give You Away. Regardless of my opinions of Numb (garbage) and Pushing Me Away (a decent song), they don't really feel like album closers. They're just...the songs that happened to be put at the end of their respective albums. Hybrid Theory and Meteora both have pretty interchangeable tracklistings, where you could totally scramble up the song order and it wouldn't hurt the album much. The Messenger is a fantastic song, but I'm not too big on "winding down" songs finishing off albums. I'd rather have the last song be the climax, and that be the end of it. So from that perspective, I think The Catalyst would be a better closer than The Messenger, it's just that there's really no other place in the tracklisting where The Messenger would really fit.
The Little Things Give You Away. I don't like The Messenger much on it's own. Numb and PMA don't feel like closers in any sense of the word. TLTGYA has everything that a good album closer should have
