So I logged onto my profile on my vampirefreaks.com page and this was on the main front page: Vampirefreaks.com blamed for the disappearance of girls And this was Jet's (the owner's response): From what I hear, this news story is also supposed to be featured on CNN tonight, and a few reporters did contact VampireFreaks. As of this time we do refuse to appear on the air to respond to this story, because quite frankly it's not the first time we've been falsely affiliated with crimes because people have misconceptions of the goth / alternative lifestyle. I would like to point out that the article states that the two teens that were recovered, had to be involuntarily taken in by the cops. They obviously ran away because they were not happy, most likely they don't receive proper love and support at home or at school. I would like to send out my condolences to the missing girl's family, however your ignorance is sad. VampireFreaks and the goth subculture in general is one of the most accepting, caring and loving communities, we give the outcasts a place to feel at home. We do not condone criminal or hostile activity in any way. And before you start on this website, I know many people in real life off this website and not all of them are Goth hugging Emos.
The only way the website should be blamed if it said "Ok, everyone runaway from home and...*insert action*" but that doesn't seem to be the case.
"VampireFreaks and the goth subculture in general is one of the most accepting, caring and loving communities, we give the outcasts a place to feel at home." Agree, even though I'm not goth. I also enjoy VF because there's a lot of interesting people to talk to.
